La Mirada Public Safety

The City of La Mirada is aware of the hazardous materials incident currently occurring in Garden Grove. At this time, there is no known impact to La Mirada residents and no evacuation orders affecting our community. The City will continue to monitor updates from regional Public Safety agencies. Residents are encouraged to avoid the affected area and follow official emergency updates.

The Public Safety Team and CHP are visiting school campuses to educate students on bicycle and scooter safety. This morning, we were at Foster Road Elementary School. Next week, we will be at Gardenhill Elementary School. Safety and knowledge are key!

Some nearby communities have reported this burglary tactic. While it has not occurred in La Mirada, it is important to be aware of crime trends. Criminals are hiding cameras in yards to monitor daily routines and identify when residents are home so they can target a home. Be aware!

Join us for this epic 250th Celebration & Drone Show! Plan your evening accordingly as La Mirada Boulevard from Rosecrans Avenue to Imperial Highway will be closed from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. for the drone show.

Be part of a historic evening as La Mirada hosts a special one-time celebration honoring the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence at the La Mirada Civic Center Plaza.

Join the community on Saturday, June 6, beginning at 6 p.m. for a patriotic celebration featuring food vendors, live music, a performance by the La Mirada Symphony, and a drone show over Biola University’s athletic fields.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the evening from the Civic Center lawn and around the City Hall Fountain Plaza, which will serve as prime viewing areas for the drone show. Parking will be available in the Civic Center and Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center parking lots.

Los Angeles County Fire Department is celebrating Fire Service Day on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop by Fire Station 49 to visit our courageous firefighters and receive a tour of the Station.

The Public Safety Team has been receiving complaints regarding the use of illegal electric motorbikes in the community. These motorbikes are not street approved and can be unsafe, especially when ridden in a reckless manner. Our priority is public safety. In an effort to keep everyone safe, illegal motorbikes such as this one seized at Neff Park today will be impounded.
