On Survivor, every new challenge takes courage, preparation, and a strong alliance. The same can be said for taking the next step toward higher education!
This Wednesday, our series with Survivor winner and Kentucky Representative Nick Wilson continues as we talk about the importance of higher education and supporting first-generation college students as they navigate new opportunities. For students who are the first in their families to attend college, the journey can come with unique challenges. But no one should have to navigate the college experience alone!
Luckily, Kentucky students have some great resources in their alliance:
🎓 FAFSA (Federal Student Aid) — The 2027–2028 FAFSA is NOW OPEN! Students planning to attend college during the 2027–2028 academic year can apply for federal financial aid, including grants, work-study opportunities, and student loans. Get started at StudentAid.gov!
📚 Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA)— Offers free college planning resources, financial aid guidance, and information about scholarships and grants for Kentucky students.
🤝 Kentucky TRiO Programs (KAEOPP) — Provide eligible students, including first-generation college students, with academic support, mentoring, and guidance to help them succeed in higher education.
Because when it comes to building a brighter future, every student deserves the opportunity to outwit obstacles, outplay expectations, and achieve their dreams!
Tag a student or family who could benefit from these resources!
