This weekend will be brutally cold. With wind chills expected to reach -30°, these temperatures are life-threatening. And while many of us will be inside, safe and warm, far too many people in our community will not be.

Some people are unhoused because they are fleeing violence. Others because systems have failed them. No matter the reason, no one deserves to face the cold without shelter. Warmth and shelter are not a privileges, they are basic human needs.

If you need a place to get warm, the City of Lincoln has activated warming centers during regular business hours:
• All Lincoln City Libraries
• Aging Partners Victory Park Senior Center
• All Lincoln Parks and Recreation centers

There are also warming shelters run by community partners:
