Our newest recruit is all bones, but ready for a night on patrol.

Happy Halloween from the Louisville Police Department! Have fun, look out for one another, and remember to use sidewalks and cross at corners while trick-or-treating. Stay visible, stay safe, and enjoy the treats!

The Louisville Police Department had a wonderful time joining Louisville downtown merchants for the Halloween Trick or Treat Parade! We loved seeing the students from Louisville Elementary and their creative costumes.

Thank you to the merchants and everyone who came out to make it such a fun event. We hope your Halloween was full of treats, smiles, and safe fun!

Let’s make Halloween fun and safe for everyone!

Louisville neighbors, here are a few simple ways to help trick-or-treaters enjoy the night:
🔹 Walk on sidewalks and cross at corners or crosswalks. Look both ways before crossing.
🔹 Help costumes stand out with bright colors, reflective tape, or a flashlight.
🔹 Make sure costumes fit well so they don’t drag, and choose face paint or makeup when possible so kids can see clearly.
🔹 Younger children should trick-or-treat with a trusted adult. Agree on a route and a time to be home.
🔹 Check treats before eating them, and enjoy only sealed, unopened items.
🔹 Drivers, please slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for children, especially near intersections and parked cars.

A little extra care from all of us can make Halloween a wonderful night for our community. Have fun, look out for your neighbors, and stay safe!

Can you spot the pedestrian?

As daylight saving time ends, evening darkness arrives earlier, making pedestrians and bicyclists much harder to see.

Dark clothing, shadows, weather, headlights, and visual distractions can cause someone walking or biking to disappear from a driver’s view. Even if you can see a vehicle, never assume the driver can see you.

Help yourself stand out:
🔹Carry a flashlight
🔹Use a white front light and red rear light on your bicycle
🔹Wear bright or reflective clothing
🔹Cross at marked crosswalks whenever possible
🔹Make eye contact with drivers before entering the roadway
🔹Ride predictably and follow traffic laws

Drivers, slow down, stay alert, and carefully scan intersections, crosswalks, and road shoulders.

Being visible can save a life. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe after dark.

Friday night lights are even better when our community comes together.

The Louisville Police Department is proud to partner with the Lafayette Police Department in supporting Monarch High School football. At each home game, members of our departments are there to cheer on the local team and help make sure players, families, students, and fans can enjoy a safe night.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support Monarch and be part of the community spirit that makes game nights special. Go Yotes!

Strong communities grow through strong relationships. The Louisville Police Department is proud to partner with Boulder Valley School District to connect with students, listen to their perspectives, and build trust.

These conversations also create opportunities to talk about issues students encounter in their community, including e-bike and e-moto safety, responsible riding, and making choices that help keep everyone safe. By building relationships early, we can answer questions, share helpful information, and make it easier for students to come to us when they need support.

We’re grateful to the students, educators, and school staff who make these connections possible. Working together helps make Louisville a safer, more welcoming community for everyone.

While Louisville is winding down for the night, our officers are still out on patrol and looking out for the community. If you see a patrol vehicle stopped along the road, please slow down and give officers and other motorists room to work safely. A little extra care helps keep everyone safer.
