Welcome to the official page of the Town of Superior, Colorado! Glad You're Here! It grew from about 250 people in 1990 to nearly 12,000 today.

The Town of Superior is a statutory town located in southeast Boulder County. It boast grand open space and close proximity to Boulder and Denver. Superior's history is one of coal mining. The first mines in the area were developed in the late 1800's. The Town itself was founded in 1896 and incorporated in 1904. The Town reportedly was named after the "superior" quality of coal found in the area.

Reminder! Tomorrow (Saturday, June 6) is National Trails Day. Stop by Coalton Trailhead (3495 McCaslin Blvd.) from 9 a.m. to noon for this free, family-friendly event. Feed the goats, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, explore educational booths, and so much more. See you on the trails!

Update! Indiana Street will be closed from West Torreys Peak Drive through Mount Sopris Way starting Monday, June 8, as phase one of the Indiana Street reconstruction project begins.

The project includes full reconstruction of the roadway, curb and gutter improvements, upgraded sidewalks, and enhanced bike and pedestrian facilities.

Please be aware that the Wildflower Park entrance off Indiana Street will be closed, as well as the northern-most entrance to Eldorado PK-8.

Explore Superior's history on Saturday, June 6, when volunteers from the Historical Commission open three historical sites to all residents interested in learning more about the community's past.

Superior Historical Cemetery, 2580 Central Park Way, open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (weather permitting).
The cemetery features interpretive signs, benches, and a trail system.

Asti Park Historical Museum, 110 W. Maple Street, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Learn about the community's mining heritage and life in the mine camp houses.

Grasso Park Interim Historical Museum, 122 E. William St., open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Explore Superior's agricultural roots through photographs, objects, and artifacts.

The Town of Superior is seeking a part-time, 20 hours per week, Utility Billing Clerk.

This position performs a variety of clerical and accounting duties involving record keeping and/or financial transactions including accounts payable and receivable, utility billing, work orders, account transfers, shut-offs, liens and collection of payments for the Town of Superior. This position is part of a structured job-share arrangement in which two employees jointly fulfill the responsibilities of one full-time role. Each partner works alternating week-long assignments, beginning on Wednesday, ensuring continuous operational coverage and accountability. This position requires strong coordination, detailed communication, and seamless transition of duties at a designated midweek handoff. Works under supervision of the Finance Director.

The Town of Superior will offer Festival Short Term Rental (Festival STR) licenses to accommodate short term rental requests during the Sundance Film Festival, taking place Jan. 21-31, 2027. Individuals may now apply for a Festival STR license to be valid between Jan. 11 through Feb. 10, 2027, and occupied for no longer than a total of 29 days.

Festival STR Licenses are issued on a per-unit, per-festival basis. A Festival STR License is required for each STR operated during this festival period. Each Festival STR License is only valid for the declared festival they are issued for. Festival STRs must be registered and licensed for each declared festival.
