𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝟭𝟬/𝟯𝟬; 𝟭𝟬𝗔𝗠): The fire displaced eight residents from four apartment units. The upper units sustained significant fire and smoke damage, while the lower units had water and minor smoke damage. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced residents with shelter and essentials.

Two cats were also rescued by our first responders and survived.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire started on an exterior balcony before spreading into the attic and building. The cause remains undetermined, and the investigation is ongoing.

We'd like to recognize the nearby painters who quickly alerted residents to the fire, giving them valuable time to escape safely. Thank you for stepping in and helping keep our community safe! 👏

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝟭𝟬/𝟮𝟵; 𝟮:𝟯𝟬𝗣𝗠): The fire has been knocked down, and crews are currently conducting overhaul operations at a multifamily apartment complex in the 800 block of East 9th Street.

Upon arrival, crews found two apartment units fully involved, with fire extending into the attic. The incident was upgraded to a second alarm due to the volume of fire and type of occupancy.

No injuries have been reported. Three animals were rescued and are being evaluated. Crews are still working to determine how many residents have been displaced.

Thank you to our partners at Jackson County Fire District 3, Mercy Flights Inc and Medford Police, which is providing traffic control. The Red Cross is also assisting.

Medford Fire has responded to three e-mobility fires in October. These incidents are part of a larger safety concern: Oregon recorded 111 e-mobility fires between 2020 and 2025, an increase of 118%.

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸:
- Use only the charger designed for your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
- Charge outside whenever possible.
- If you must charge indoors, stay nearby and keep exits clear.

Fire prevention starts with everyday habits.

Halloween decorations are popping up all over Medford! As you get your home ready for trick-or-treaters, we want to remind you to keep fire safety in mind.

🕸️ Watch out for flammable decorations. Stretchable spider webs, dried cornstalks and other lightweight decorations can catch fire easily and allow flames to spread quickly.

🕯️ Skip the open flames. Use battery-powered candles or lights in your jack-o'-lanterns instead of real candles.

💡 Be mindful of electrical decorations. Keep lights and heat-producing decorations away from flammable materials, and unplug them when unattended.

A few simple precautions can help keep your Halloween spooky for all the right reasons! 👻
