Healthy Start is proud to be part of Allegheny Prenatal to Three, a countywide collaborative focused on strengthening support for families with children under age 3.

Healthy Start was proud to support the Pittsburgh Black Nurses In Action Evelyn Paige Parker Scholarship Brunch, celebrating the next generation of nurses and honoring a powerful legacy of care, service, and community.

CEO Jada Shirriel, Center for Urban Breastfeeding Program Manager Ashli Hull, and Board Member Barbara Crosby attended in support of aspiring nursing students and the continued impact of Black nurses in our region.

Congratulations to the scholarship recipients and to Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action for creating space to uplift, invest in, and celebrate future leaders in health care.

This paid opportunity brings together a cohort of Black mothers to build leadership skills, grow in community, and learn more about advocacy, public policy, and how lived experience can help shape systems and solutions.

The PA Black Maternal Health Caucus spearheaded by state Reps. Morgan Cephas, Gina H. Curry, and La’Tasha D. Mayes of Allegheny County is fighting to pass a package of legislation designed to address the Black maternal mortality and morbidity crisis right here in our Commonwealth.

The Pennsylvania MOMNIBUS takes aim at the systemic, intersectional failures that put Black mothers at risk from healthcare access to implicit bias to economic inequity.

We are inviting professionals who work with pregnant and postpartum moms and families to participate in the ADAPT Study AND to share this opportunity with any pregnant or postpartum individuals you support.
We are looking for people in roles such as:
Community health workers
Doulas
Lactation professionals
Maternity care coordinators
Home visitors
Peer supporters
Nurses, social workers, and other family support professionals

The goal of this study is to help co-design a feasible sleep health program that can help reduce postpartum health inequities.
Participation includes a 20–30 minute online survey. Participants will receive:
$25 compensation for completing the survey
AND be entered to receive either a Fitbit or an additional $100
Some participants may also be invited to complete a 45–60 minute follow-up interview for an additional $50.
