What pulls your attention away when you drive?

A notification.
A quick adjustment.
A conversation.
A wandering thought.
Distraction isn’t just about phones β€” anything that takes your focus off the road can put lives at risk.

This week, RMTA is joining transportation agencies and partners around the world for Global Road Safety Week to help raise awareness about distracted driving and safer roads for everyone.

πŸš— Put Your Mind in Drive.
Because attention behind the wheel matters.

We are proud to recognize Dean Lynch, Tyrone Nelson and Jane DuFrane for their dedication, leadership and service to the Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

At our annual board meeting, these board members were honored for their valuable contributions and commitment to advancing our mission. While Jane DuFrane was unable to attend, we are grateful for her continued support and impact.

Throughout their tenure, all three have had a positive impact on the Authority and the communities we serve, and their collective work will continue to benefit us for years to come.

Traffic keeps moving with all-electronic tolling.

With AET in place, drivers can travel through toll points without stopping thanks to E-ZPass and Pay By Plate technology. The result? Less congestion, smoother commutes, and a more efficient drive across the Richmond region.

A quick reminder to make sure your E-ZPass account and vehicle information are up to date before you hit the road.

Commuter Tip of the Day! πŸš—

During busy commute times, traffic can slow down quickly near merges, exits, and toll zones. Giving the vehicle ahead of you a little extra space can help prevent sudden braking and keep traffic flowing smoothly.

With RMTA’s new all electronic tolling system, you can also expect a more seamless drive through toll areas with no stopping, just steady movement through your commute.

Ready to hit the road? Don’t forget the easiest way to travel is the prepared way.

Make sure your E-ZPass account is active, your payment method is updated and your vehicle information is current.

All-electronic tolling keeps traffic moving and reduces delays, so you can spend less time in line and more time at your destination.

More drivers on the road this holiday weekend means safety matters more than ever. Keep your focus, drive responsibly, and be prepared for changing conditions.

Plan ahead, allow extra time for your trip, and give yourself plenty of space on the road. Enjoy the long weekend!
