Elizabeth Holladay Elementary School is named for Miss
Elizabeth Jane Holladay, a pioneer teacher who started
the first public school in the Glen Allen area of Henrico
County at her home in 1886. The present day Holladay Elementary School opened
its doors and welcomed its first students for the 1968-
69 school year. At that time there were no kindergarten
classes in Henrico County and elementary school went
through the seventh grade. In the 1974-75 school year
the county added kindergarten classes to all elementary
schools.

We aren’t anticipating major impacts from Hurricane Isaias as it reaches Henrico tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t prepared.

Crews will be on site and ready to handle any road issues such as flooding or fallen trees or water and sewer service impacts.

Do your part to stay safe during any storms by taking the following steps:
- Save this graphic to your phone for easy access to important phone numbers in case of service impacts.
- Leave the Henrico 911 lines clear by only calling 911 in case of emergency.
- Report any fallen trees to Public Works by calling 804-727-8300 in the west end and 804-652-3975 in the east end.
- If you come across a flooded road, turn around and don’t drown! Never assume your car can make it across.
- Please do not message social media pages for reports as they are not monitored as closely as our phone lines.

Stay safe Henrico!

100% of our school are FULLY ACCREDITED! 💯

Today, the Virginia Department of Education released accountability data for the 2025-26 school year. Based on this data, Henrico Schools ...

📈 Saw growth and improvement across all school performance indicators across all school levels, with an average increase of 5 points. All middle schools, 98% of elementary schools and 78% of high schools saw their point score increase this year.

📈 Tripled the number of schools receiving “Distinguished” status, the highest of the state’s four performance categories. This year, 28 schools — including the majority of high schools — achieved the status, compared to 10 schools the prior year.

📈 Saw improvement in at least one performance category at half of schools.

Said Superintendent Amy Cashwell: “Our performance growth across all levels is an incredible accomplishment. Our teachers, specialists and school leaders work every day to understand each student and respond to their needs to create an environment where every student can learn and grow.”

This is the second year of implementation of Virginia’s new accountability system, which separates the accreditation process from the school performance framework. Some of the terminology in the performance framework changed this year, but criteria remain largely unchanged.
