The 2026 LLDP and AALDP classes have completed their program, and what a way to close it out.

This final week our cohorts turned the lens outward, exploring community leadership and what it means to get involved in the work already being done around us. They stepped up as leaders and presenters themselves, sharing their vision for how we can deepen our impact in this community and plug into the work that already needs them.

But beyond the sessions and the topics and the conversations, what stood out most was this: our participants walked away knowing more about themselves, their abilities, and what they are truly capable of as leaders.

You were already leading. This was your launching pad. Now go stand firm, shine bright, and guide your community.

Congratulations to the 2026 LLDP and AALDP classes. We are proud of you.

Workplace Wednesday: Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC

This week, we’re highlighting Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC as the team kicked off its United Way campaign at the firm’s local office.

This year’s partnership carries special meaning for United Way. Ed Hourihan, Office Managing Partner at Bond, is serving as chair of our 2026 campaign, helping lead the way as workplaces across the region come together in support of our community.

Bond has also stepped up in a major way through United Way’s Corporate Challenge Grant, helping match community donations up to $350,000 and giving each contribution the opportunity to go even further.

We’re grateful to Bond, Schoeneck & King for its leadership, generosity and continued commitment to strengthening our region.

Two full houses for the ALICE Experience at Palmyra-Macedon Central School District!

The ALICE Experience is an interactive simulation that puts participants in the shoes of families struggling to make ends meet, challenging them to navigate everyday expenses, limited budgets and unexpected financial setbacks.

With 39% of households in our region struggling to afford necessities, experiences like these help build understanding of the challenges facing our neighbors.

Thank you to PALMAC for participating! 💙

This week the 2026 Leadership Development Academy took a meaningful step into one of the most important arenas in community leadership: the boardroom.

Through a collaborative session bringing together both our African American and Latino Leadership Development programs, the Institute for Civic and Community Engagement at St. John Fisher University led our cohorts through the landscape of board leadership.

From building diverse and representative boards, to financial oversight, to decision making that keeps mission and people at the center, our cohorts walked away with a clearer picture of what it means to lead at that level.

Boards shape the direction of the organizations that serve our communities. Who sits at those tables matters. This week was about making sure our cohorts know they belong there and know how to lead when they get there.

Thank you to the Institute for Civic and Community Engagement at St. John Fisher University for your partnership and for investing in board-ready leaders across our region. We are proud to partner with you.

Workplace Wednesday: L3Harris Technologies

This week, we’re celebrating a milestone with L3Harris as they kicked off their 2026 United Way campaign across seven Rochester-area locations.

This year marks 25 years of United Way campaigns at L3Harris. Over that time, employees have raised millions of dollars, assembled tens of thousands of kits and volunteered countless hours in support of neighbors across our community.

That tradition continues this year. Along with their workplace campaign, L3Harris employees are coming together through special events, including golf and pickleball tournaments, to make giving back part of the experience.

Twenty-five years of partnership represents generations of employees choosing to show up, lend a hand and invest in the place they call home.

Thank you, L3Harris, for 25 years of standing with United Way and our community.

After Week 4 of the 2026 Leadership Development Academy ended last week the focus shifted from the individua to the collective.

Across our Latino Leadership Development and African American Leadership Development programs, last week centered on team leadership. Our cohorts explored what it means to lead inclusively, build trust, give and receive meaningful feedback, and show up as civic leaders in the communities they serve.

Thank you to last week's presenters for not just teaching these principles but demonstrating them. And a special shoutout to Kelvin Sanchez for joining our alumni panel this week and bringing that perspective back into the room.

But this week we also want to recognize our participants. Growth in leadership is not just about developing yourself. It is about creating environments where others can grow too. The fact that our cohorts are showing up with that mindset week after week says everything.

The best teams are built by leaders who care about the people next to them. Keep going.
