Today's Nourish ME adult class focused on "Meditation to Boost Your Well-Being." We talked about healthy ways to manage stress, and tried a meditation together. Our recipes were Edamame Fried Rice with broccoli and carrots, as well as loaded sweet potatoes with Cuban Black Beans, low-sodium salsa, cheese, cilantro and green onion. This 12-week session is currently full, but keep an eye out for more enrollment opportunities in the future!

Did you know that hosting and supporting substance-free activities is one of the most effective ways to help prevent youth substance use?

Whether it's a movie night, bonfire, or game night, providing teens with safe, supervised spaces to connect helps build healthy relationships, confidence, and positive memories.

✅ Promotes belonging and connection
✅ Encourages healthy decision-making
✅ Reduces opportunities for substance use
✅ Strengthens protective factors that support lifelong well-being

Creating safe, substance-free environments isn't just about preventing risky behaviors. It's about helping young people thrive.

This Halloween, remember:

Just because it's v***r doesn't mean it's safer.

Vapes can contain ni****ne and other harmful chemicals that may affect your lungs, brain, and overall health.

Don't let the tricks hide the truth.

🎃 Choose treats, not vapes. 🦇 Stay vape-free.

Did you know?

Reducing alcohol consumption is one simple step you can take to help lower your breast cancer risk.

Research shows that even small amounts of alcohol can increase breast cancer risk. Studies have found that each alcoholic drink consumed per day increases breast cancer risk by about 7%. Women who drink 2-3 alcoholic drinks per day have about a 20% higher risk of breast cancer compared with women who do not drink. The risk increases with the amount consumed.

The good news? Choosing to drink less, or not at all, can help reduce your cancer risk. Every small change counts toward a healthier future. 💗

Sources:
• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Alcohol consumption increases the risk of breast cancer and other cancers.
• Susan G. Komen Foundation: Each additional alcoholic drink per day is associated with about a 7% increase in breast cancer risk; 2-3 drinks per day are linked to about a 20% higher risk.
• American Cancer Society: Even small amounts of alcohol increase breast cancer risk.

The 2nd Healing Hearts Nutrition Education class was all about meal planning and cooking without a recipe. Participants learned about knife safety and how to chop onions, peppers, mushrooms and potatoes. Then they baked individual egg muffin frittata that can be frozen for later. 12 beaten eggs combined with your favorite veggies and spices makes 12 egg muffin cups cooked at 350 for 25-30 min or until firm. Try it at home!
