The Whitney High Booster Club puts on a great crab feed! I know how much goes into putting on an event like this. I used to volunteer for kitchen duty at the Active 20-30 crab feed, and it was such hard work, but also strangely fun!

The WHS student servers were so attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious and plentiful. Can't complain about the company, either!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope you all got to spend some time with loved ones and appreciate the season. I took Maren with me recently to participate in Wreaths Across America--we were able to place wreaths on some of the 440 graves of our local military members to remember and honor their service. I was very impressed by our Rocklin Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp cadets who helped make the event so successful!

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and great first day back to school! The Sutherlands took a road trip to Portland, where we spent lots of quality time with family, visited Powell's Books to get some leisure reading material, and ate tons of amazing food! Feeling incredibly thankful ❤

Chris and I had so much fun at the Rocklin Elementary Parent Auction--the PTC did an excellent job! I can't believe that Adair will be moving on to middle school in a month, but I am so excited for all of the 6th grade end-of-year fun that she has coming up!

Sunday evening, I attended the Crystal Apple Awards, hosted by the LDS church. It was so heartwarming to hear students from RHS, VHS, and WHS recognize their favorite teachers for the impact that they've had on their education and their lives. Congratulations to Bill Kimmel, Jerica Siska, Ryan Spears, Jennifer Gamble, Emilie Cavolt, Whitney Lum, and Abby Pena!

Yesterday, Maren participated in Quarry Trail's first "Desfile de Primavera," which, in Mexico, is a traditional celebration of spring. I loved seeing all of the parents out supporting their kids (and all of the hard work spent decorating scooters and bikes!) Shout out to the parent who created the adorable sunflower hat for their little one--too cute!

I am so appreciative of Principal Patterson and the amazing QT staff team who does so much to build up the school community and to appreciate the varied cultures of our QT students and families 🌎

This week was very busy! The highlights were cheering on the Unified Sports teams for Rocklin and Whitney, and reading a story to Maren's class because she was Student of the Week 🍏

I hope all of the students enjoy their Spring Break!

Remy, Maren, and I had a great time at Springview's Showcase Night this week. I was so impressed by the department displays, and the girls loved trying out the experiments. Remy left feeling excited about the opportunities she will have when she gets a little older 🙂

The Sutherland family's first Quarry Classic! Both teams played so well, and WHS put on a great event. Of course I'm a bit partial to my alma mater, but Adair balanced it out with her Wildcat headwear and over the top cheering. Maren didn't even make it to half time, haha! 😴
