We don’t have any City or County meetings this week, but In this special episode Gabe is joined by Natasha Minsker, facilitator from the California Anti-Death Penalty Coalition. We are focusing on the role Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho has played in increasing the rates of inmates facing the death-penalty, and what the community can do to stop it:
“The Sacramento Anti-Death Penalty Coalition is organizing people to attend the Board of Supervisors’ hearing on the budget. We will give public comment urging the Board to reduce the District Attorney’s office budget, in light of the office’s wasteful and harmful pursuit of the death penalty.”

This week's ! 👀 First up, we have flagged some items for the Sac City Budget & Audit committee happening today at 11am. Then we have flagged items from the 2pm and 5pm City Council today as well. There are no County meetings this week.
There’s a rally today at 4:30pm, organized by a collection of some of Sac’s finest orgs who are trying to get people to show up for the 5pm meeting to advocate for the Public Bank viability study, which has been axed even though is it extremely cheap and not a big money saver for the City in terms of closing the budget gap. Come out and support!

All hands on deck!
Please support public banking on Tuesday, May 26 at 4:30PM for a rally and accountability action at Sacramento City Council chambers, at 915 I Street.
The City Council has refused to take up the issue of a Sacramento Public Bank viability study, despite past promises to do so. This could be our last opportunity this budget year to bring public pressure to bear, so please make every effort to join this mobilization.
To reap the long term fiscal savings and infrastructure investments that come from having a public bank in Sacramento, the City Council must approve the modest cost of the public bank viability study in this year's budget.
Main Street, not Wall Street!!!
