🏊🏽 If you’re bringing a new swimmer this year, recreation swim is one of the best places to build comfort slowly, little by little, visit by visit.
Not every kid jumps right in on day one. Some start on the steps. Some start with spray play. Some start holding your hand like it’s a life vest. And then one day…they don’t need you as close 🥹
That’s what summer “in motion” looks like, small progress that turns into big confidence!
📍 Christine Thompson Aquatic Center, 8025 Waterman Road
💦 Spray Play is open during Recreation Swim hours
🎟️ $6 drop-in (ages 2+), under 2 free
📆 Weekend Rec Swim Hours: 1pm–4:30pm
📱Visit our website to find the monthly pool schedule!

Sleep isn’t optional maintenance—it’s part of how your body regulates stress, supports heart health, and recovers.
A few small changes can help:
😴 Keep a consistent bedtime window
📱 Dim screens earlier
😎 Cool, dark room
🧘♀️ Gentle stretching or a warm shower to wind down
🛌 Even a short rest when you can
Recovery doesn’t need to be perfect. It needs to be protected.
👉 Tonight, try one small change (even just 15 minutes earlier), then comment tomorrow if it helped.

Your health questions deserve clear answers. Self-advocacy can be as simple as showing up prepared and giving yourself permission to ask again.
Helpful ways to advocate:
❤️ write symptoms down (when they started, what makes them better/worse)
❤️ bring your questions in a note on your phone
❤️ ask: “What are my options?” and “What should I watch for?”
❤️ ask: “Can you explain that another way?”
❤️ bring someone with you if you want support
You don’t have to be an expert to speak up!
👉 Save this post for your next appointment, and share it with someone who needs the reminder.

Healthy aging isn’t about doing everything. It’s about keeping what matters—strength, balance, mobility, and energy—so day-to-day life feels easier.
The habits that support longevity tend to be simple:
🚶🏽♀️ Regular movement
💪 Strength and balance work
🗣️ Staying socially connected
💧 Preventive care and hydration
Small steps now can make a big difference later.
👉 Comment one thing you want to keep doing for years to come—we’ll cheer you on.

Stress can get loud when life is moving fast. Support doesn’t always look dramatic, it can be steady habits that help you feel more grounded.
A few options that work for real life:
🌻 Step outside for a few minutes of fresh air
🚶🏽♀️ Take a short walk without multitasking
📱Ttext one person who makes you laugh
📋 Build a routine that signals “I’m done for today”
Support can be practical and so can rest!
👉 Tag a friend you’d take a short walk with, or comment one thing that helps you reset.

South Sacramento summer plans don’t have to mean a long drive or a big budget. Sometimes the best nights are the ones close to home with kids running around the park until the sun starts to drop, a movie screen lighting up after dinner, the pool on a day that’s too hot to sit inside, and neighbors you recognize even if you don’t know everyone’s name!
That’s the feeling behind this season’s 70 Years in Motion. Our community staying active, staying connected, and making memories in the same places families have been returning to for generations.
This summer lineup is built for real life: free pop-up fun in local parks with the R.E.C. Van, outdoor movies in the park, community events, and aquatic nights that feel like mini celebrations all summer long.
