HRAS has an amazing team of volunteers and fosters that support our shelter programs and animals every day.
From walking dogs, to feeding shelter dogs, socializing scared cats, posting our stray animals, making social media posts/videos, cleaning the cats kennels and feeding them, getting their workout doing laundry and dishes, helping at off-site events, our dedicated volunteers are amazing. They love our shelter as much as we do and it shows.
Fosters literally save lives. When we have fosters, the unweaned kittens that come in have a place to go! When we have fosters, the adult dog that needs time out of a kennel has a place to go. Fosters create places for shelter pets to go and they save lives. Our foster program provides everything you will need to keep them healthy and thriving. We always need more foster families, so please consider helping.

Please give our Volunteers and Fosters a shout out for all the great work they do for our shelter animals.

At just a year old, Pluto is still learning and may benefit from training—an excellent chance for him and his adopter to grow together and build skills that will last a lifetime. Ready for playtime, goofy grunts, and a fun young companion? Pluto is waiting to meet you.

“Good girl, Millie. Your people are going to find you soon.”

A volunteer is giving Millie all the love and reassurance she deserves—but what Millie really needs is a family to call her own. This sweet Husky mix has been waiting a long time, enjoys playing with other dogs, and is ready to keep learning with someone by her side.

Please share Millie and help her people find her. Her adoption fee is $50 thanks to Friends of Hitchcock Road Animal Services. Let’s make “your people are coming” come true for Millie!

Meet Oliver—Ollie to his friends! This happy, smiley boy has a very important holiday wish: a home of his own.

Ollie’s Christmas dinosaur was a subtle hint that he’s already looking forward to the holidays. Now he’s hoping to celebrate his first holiday season with a family who’ll make him part of the festivities—and keep him close for a lifetime.

This neutered, 24-pound tricolor Terrier mix has a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s friendly, outgoing, loves attention, gets along well with other dogs, and walks nicely on leash. With that joyful grin, Ollie is ready to make every day a little brighter.

Could Ollie be the one to make your holidays—and all the days after—extra special? Come meet him and see for yourself!

It takes a village to care for our shelter animals and our Veterinary Clinic Team is a key part of that village. ❤️🐱
HRAS has a small but mighty veterinary team to help us keep our shelter pets healthy. Each day brings it’s own challenges with more and more animals coming in that require medical care. From unmanaged skin issues, to broken legs to diagnosing contagious diseases, this team takes it in stride and works in the best interest of our shelter pets. They also spay/neuter every adoptable animal.
We know that with the current veterinary shortage and rising veterinary costs, we need to be more self-sufficient to help the animals in our care. We’ve added some equipment such as an x-ray machine and dental machine. We are hoping to add to the Clinic team- stay tuned.
👉 Let’s give our Veterinary Clinic Team a huge round of applause for their compassion and dedication! 🩺💖
