We are honored to be chosen by The Charity Ball Association for a $100,000 grant to repair the HVAC system at our emergency shelter, Lamb Camp. This support helps us provide safety and comfort for children who have been suddenly removed from their home.

We are deeply grateful to The Charity Ball Association and all they do to enhance the lives and hopes of children in Bexar County. Thank you! 💙

Today, we celebrate the mothers on our team and in our community—thank you for the countless ways you nurture, guide, support, and love both at home and in the workplace.

We also honor the foster mothers, kinship caregivers, grandmothers, aunts, and all those who step into mothering roles to provide love, stability, and hope for children and families.

We recognize that Mother’s Day can hold many emotions. We acknowledge those who hope to become mothers, those who have experienced loss, those navigating infertility, and those missing their mothers today.

No matter what this day represents for you, please know that you are valued, appreciated, and seen.

Yesterday, we were honored to celebrate Peggy Eighmy at our annual Give a Piece of Your Heart Luncheon as the recipient of the 2026 Angel of the Shelter Award.

Through her unwavering advocacy for youth in foster care and those with lived experience in the system, Peggy has helped create brighter futures by establishing Bexar County Fostering Education Success (BCFES).

Her dedication reflects the heart of our mission at The Children’s Shelter, where we work every day to support children and families through programs that provide safety, healing, and hope—including foster care services that help youth build stable, successful futures.
