October is Head Start Awareness Month!

In San Francisco, Head Start services are provided by Wu Yee Children’s Services, Kai Ming and MNC Inspiring Success. Together, we’re proud to support children and families through programs that strengthen our communities and help build brighter futures.

For more than 60 years, Head Start has helped children build strong foundations for learning, health and lifelong success. Through early education, family support, health services and school readiness, Head Start makes a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

As Head Start Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on and celebrating the families, educators and communities who make this work possible every day.

Wu Yee Children's Services' Home Visiting families have been exploring and connecting through Fall field trips!

From the Bay Area Discovery Museum to the San Francisco Botanical Garden, these outings give children opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences while helping families build connections and create memories together.

We’re proud to share that Wu Yee Children’s Services has received the Program of Excellence designation from the National Head Start Association (NHSA), recognizing outstanding leadership, program management, and quality services for children and families.

Wu Yee is one of just nine organizations nationwide and two in California to receive this award. The designation recognizes sustained excellence in areas including leadership, financial management, family partnerships, high-quality programming, and continuous improvement.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our educators and staff, the partnership of the families we serve, and our commitment to ensuring every child has a strong start. We’re honored to be recognized among Head Start programs across the country and proud to continue building a brighter future for San Francisco’s children and families.

Wu Yee Children’s Services was glad to join our community at the 31st Annual Chinatown Community Health Fair last weekend!

We hosted a resource and activity table and an arts and crafts workshop in collaboration with APA Family Services.

From sharing resources to creating art together, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, share information about our programs, and celebrate the community resources that help children and families thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Apple teams from Union Square and Chestnut Street for bringing creativity, color, and joy to our Bayview Children’s Hub!

Through their time, talent, and teamwork, these wonderful volunteers transformed a blank wall into a beautiful, vibrant mural that will brighten our space and inspire the children and families who visit for years to come.

Pumpkins, crafts, and Halloween fun!

It’s never too soon to start spreading some holiday cheer!

Our Holiday Toy Drive is officially underway, and we’re inviting our community to help make the holidays a little brighter for children and families served by Wu Yee Children’s Services.

We’re collecting new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0–5, with gifts for children up to age 12 also welcome. Suggested gift values are $10–$40.
