We can’t talk about Blocking if we’re not simultaneously talking about building. Culture is the soil of the new world that we are building. Our ideas, belief, values, norms, traditions, and ways of being with each other, watering each other, and tending to each other must be taken seriously friends. Yes blocking racist attacks, yes policies, yes campaigns, and what else.. We have to take care of the collective.

The heart, soul, mind, spirits, of our people. We ain’t seen no policy yet that’s truly stopped slavery, mass incarceration, genocide, femicide, homicides, or patriarchy,

We must do it all friends because WE ARE EACH OTHERS HARVEST…

We Are Each Others Harvest Public Grief and Joy Ceremony!! The drum carried us, the land held us.

We led our first of many public grief and joy ceremonies at Fairground Park on Sunday 10/25/26 and it was beautifully necessary. As a collective body of people working to challenge systems and shifts our way of being, we must create spaces to reckon with all that is and all that we are holding. We must create environments where people can express their dreams, their aches, fears, anger, rage and frustrations. We must create spaces where pain and grief are normalized and deemed as sacred. We must make space to breathe, scream, shout, and dance.. ALOUD….

We allowed the spirit of the drum to flow, the water to cleanse, and the soil receive.

Saturday Some Things Must Be Heard : Spitting & Politicking hosted our 2nd We Are Each Others Harvest Cultural Organizing gathering and we want to thank our fellows Helen Kamilah Amon Bailey Helen Kamilah Amon Baileyour cTau Adwinmembers and volunteers for showing up for the people and building out this campaign.

We gathered. We strategized, We educated each other, and we planted seeds of revolution.

Dozens of organizations across our region are united: invest in our communities, not cages.

Saying no to new jails doesn’t mean ignoring harm if it happens. It means dealing with harm in ways that are survivor-led and address root causes, rather than locking people away.

Every dollar spent expanding jails is money stolen from what actually keeps us safe. And demanding better conditions and medical care for people inside today isn’t endorsing incarceration, it’s basic human decency.

We reject the false choice between keeping things as they are or expanding.

The personal is political and the political is personal. We know this but culture is the soil that they both grow in. We must friends, we must sift through the dirt to get to essence of who we are as a people in order to be in right relationship with each other.

System Change work is people change work : ideas, beliefs, values, and ways of being.. CULTURE…
