University Place Elementary School is a STEAM Education and Leader in Me School located in Tuscaloosa UPES is the premier elementary school for STEAM Education.

University Place Elementary School is comprised of a faculty and student body of learners and leaders! STEAM allows our students to develop problem solving and collaboration skills while exploring the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. We fully integrate those STEAM disciplines throughout our regular curriculum, and give our students the opportunity to apply what they're learning to real life. UPES is proud to be a Lighthouse School with the Franklin Covey Leader in Me program and the first school in the Tuscaloosa City Schools to become an accredited STEAM school by COGNIA. The 7 Habits and hands-on approach provides our students with relevant learning experiences that give them the tools, skill set/habits and life skills required to succeed academically and socially. 🩲🍪 Things got a little creepy (and a whole lot of sweet) in our library lessons!

Our second grade Falcon Leaders had a spooktacular time creating their very own Creepy Underwear Cookies to go along with the book Creepy Underwear! 📚👻

We love bringing stories to life through fun, hands-on learning experiences. Our Falcons proved that reading can be creepy, creative, and delicious all at the same time! 🦅❤️🖤

Today’s Leadership Assembly was all about growing tomorrow’s leaders today! Our Falcon Leaders are learning what it means to be disciplined by making positive choices, showing self-control, following expectations, and taking responsibility for their actions.

We are proud of our students as they practice leadership skills that will help them soar both inside and outside the classroom. Our Falcons are building habits that will lead to a bright future!
