DGS attended a Community Walk in around DC Department of Parks and Recreation’s Rose Park Rec to address longstanding community concerns. By addressing ongoing maintenance and environmental concerns at Rose Park Rec, we’re continuing to work with our partners to make our outdoor, recreational spaces better serve the needs of the community.

Due to the recent extreme heat wave, DGS Teams continue to closely monitor temperatures across all DC Public Schools, working day and night to ensure students and staff are safe, cool, and comfortable.

As needed, DGS deployed crews onsite to implement HVAC repairs and install cooling contingencies in impacted areas. Our teams’ assessments, repairs, and troubleshooting is still ongoing.

We remain committed to ensuring all school environments are safe, cool, and conducive to learning. DGS continues to address cooling matters across all 8 wards.

Our Facilities Team has been working to remediate repairs to ensure water continues to flow at Columbia Heights Civic Plaza Spray Park. Thanks for your patience as we continue working to ensure this space can be enjoyed!⛲

17 outdoor pools and 35 spray parks are open today through Monday 10AM-6PM.

While rain is in the forecast, pools will open as long as conditions remain safe for lifeguards to monitor and as long as there is no lightning.
