The mission of the Department of General Services is to build, maintain, and sustain the District of Columbia’s real estate portfolio, which includes more than 40 million square feet of District-owned and leased property and roughly $21 billion in assessed District-owned property in Washington, DC. This work allows the agency to foster economic viability, environmental stewardship, and equity across all eight (8) wards. DGS is a District of Columbia government agency comprised of more than 700 skilled employees working dynamically through six divisions to create new and manage 850+ District-owned and leased property assets across Washington, DC. Our people hold expertise in the areas of architecture, design, and construction, building management and maintenance, real estate management, and security and sustainability work through the following divisions:

The $25M Southeast Tennis & Learning Center (SETLC) expansion is nearing completion— a major step towards qualifying SETLC to host United States Tennis Association - USTA (Official)-sanctioned International Junior Tennis Tournaments.

While continuing to serve as a hub for education, mentorship, and opportunity for the community in , this expanded campus will be a premier tennis destination adding 3 indoor USTA courts, 4 outdoor USTA courts, and 4 pickleball courts to complement the facility’s existing 6 outdoor hard courts, 6 indoor hard courts, and 2 pickleball courts.

This project would not be possible without the support of Cora Masters Barry, Recreation Wish List Committee, our design-build team, GCS SIGAL and MTFA Architecture, DGS Project Manager, Ardavan Tookaloo, DPR PM, Peter Nohrden, our client agency DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and all involved!

We connected attendees with resources, procurement connections, and more to assist with moving their businesses forward.

🏈 — DGS was proud to cut the ribbon on the nearly $3M modernization of the H.D. Woodson High School athletic field alongside Mayor Bowser, Washington Commanders, DC Public Schools, students, & more in .

We are grateful for this partnership with the Commanders to ensure our youth have high-quality recreational facilities for our youth athletic programs!

We could not have done this without Mayor Bowser's continued investments in our youth, the Commanders, DCPS, our design-build team, Chiaramonte Construction Company + AMP Engineers, CM Councilmember Wendell Felder & Eboni Rose Thompson’s advocacy, DGS PM Sonali Ambre, the community, and all involved!

🏗️🚧 Construction continues on the DC Department of Parks and Recreation's Congress Heights Rec Center in ! Once complete, this rec center will feature a gymnasium, kitchen, multipurpose rooms, and a flexible computer lounge to support a range of community programs.

DGS' Capital Construction Executive PM Renee M. Holmes recently addressed the District of Columbia Quality Initiative (DCQI) at the Metropolitan Project Opportunities Forum, providing comprehensive updates on our infrastructure & roadway development projects, including the Hill East & RFK Redevelopment Projects, along with project insights, procurement info, & more.

This DCQI Conference brought leaders from across the DMV’s transportation and infrastructure sectors to exchange emerging trends and best practices; our Capital Construction Division was honored to represent DC and contribute to these important conversations.
