She marched for women’s rights in 1912. But when women won the right to vote in 1920, she still couldn’t—because of the Chinese Exclusion Act.

Her name was Mabel Ping-Hua Lee. She helped make history. And history left her out.

1882 Foundation has launched a national campaign to change that by creating a public mural in Washington, DC’s Chinatown to honor her legacy—and bring her story into public view. Help honor Lee's legacy by donating to this campaign. A generous donor has agreed to match donations up to $25,000 until July 4, 2026.
