Founded in 1973, OCA–Asian Pacific American Advocates is a national, member-driven civil rights organization dedicated to advancing the sociopolitical and holistic well-being of all Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates is a national, membership driven organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans, touching tens of thousands of individuals each year through its extensive network of over 100 chapters, affiliates, and partners from around the country. gives the OCA National Center an effective vantage point for monitoring legislation and policy issues affecting Asian Pacific Americans. We are excited to announce applications for all of our scholarship programs are now open—at the same time. Six different types of scholarships are available for the 2027 cycle, including two newly established ones, totaling 21 awards to be distributed to high school students, college students, recent college graduates, and vocational school students. We are now accepting applications for our archives fellow and documentary fellow positions! These are part-time, exempt, paid roles with an anticipated start date of January 2027.

As part of the Liu Pursuits: Aperture Project, fellows will collaborate together to research, collect, and archive OCA’s history through its chapters and members, culminating in short documentaries and the establishment of an online archive about OCA chapters. This program is a great opportunity for college students or entry-level professionals passionate about storytelling and preserving AAPI history.

Today, Advancing Justice – AAJC joined a coalition of civil rights groups in filing a federal lawsuit to stop an unlawful and discriminatory program by USCIS and DHS that targets, investigates, and intimidates naturalized U.S. citizens.

Since August 2026, USCIS has used outdated, error-prone data and questionable methods to investigate foreign-born citizens under the guise of voter eligibility checks. As a result, thousands of naturalized American citizens are being subjected to improper investigations, door-to-door interrogations, and potential disenfranchisement.

Naturalized citizens are U.S. citizens, with exactly the same right to vote as anyone born here.

Undergraduate students (or recent grads) who have demonstrated interest in uplifting the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community are highly encouraged to apply! 🏦 This is a full-time PAID internship based in Washington D.C. You will receive a $5,250 stipend for participating in our program from June 7 - August 13, 2027.

Join us on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 for a 90-minute virtual workshop, co-hosted with Viet Fact Check - Việt Kiểm Tin, in which participants will learn about problematic information that exists both online and offline. We will share tools and strategies to help participants navigate overwhelming or potentially problematic information. This workshop was developed by scholars, journalists, and media producers who have been conducting community gatherings to better understand and address the wide spread of mis-/disinformation online, particularly among intergenerational immigrant and refugee communities. While this workshop does not aim to solve the complex and pervasive communication issues in our world today, the learnings and conversations will prepare participants to mediate polarizing information and problematic narratives.
