We responded to an alleged threat at Valley Southwoods around 11:00 AM today. The issue was reported to school administration who contacted the police. An officer made immediate contact with the suspect who is being identified only as a juvenile student at the school. That suspect was removed from the campus and taken to Juvenile Court Intake. No acts of violence occurred. No weapons were found on campus.
We appreciate our strong relationships with schools in the city. “We have a School Resource Officer program which has helped tremendously,” said Sergeant Dan Wade. “These open lines of communication really support quick responses to these calls.”
Our detectives are completing this investigation. Operations at the school were not interrupted.

On Monday, May 4, Chief Bellamy joined Mayor Trimble and members of the City Council to accept a proclamation recognizing National Police Week, May 10–16, 2026.
National Police Week is celebrated each year during the week of May 15. It’s a time set aside to honor and celebrate police officers and the important work they do in communities across the country. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation naming May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as National Police Week.
We are especially proud of the officers who wear the WDMPD patch and serve our community with dedication and professionalism.
