The Azanian People’s Organisation (AZAPO) Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in the devastating accident involving a taxi and a bus in Kariega.
We are profoundly saddened by this painful loss of life and the injuries sustained by others. This tragedy has left a deep wound in our community, and our thoughts are with all those affected during this difficult time.
We call on all relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident to ensure accountability and to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their families find strength and comfort in this time of grief.

Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Babalwa Lobishe is facing an explosive backlash from her chief of staff, Mlungisi Lumka, who has accused her of scapegoating him and lying to parliament as the city spirals deeper into crisis under her watch.
In a blistering submission opposing his suspension, Lumka said he had been reduced to a political buffer and sent to confront violent protests, absorb public anger and stabilise crises.
