From war on Iran to class war in Australia 27/05/2026

Ali Keshtkar draws significant links between the wars Australia and its imperialist allies pursues overseas and the capitalists' class war here:

From war on Iran to class war in Australia Ali Keshtkar argues the Iran war has exposed the underlying contradictions of an economy already organised around property speculation, financialisation and energy profiteering.

Helen O’Sullivan, a Gaza flotilla participant held captive by the Israeli military, speaks as she returns home yesterday. I was among forty supporters welcoming her. Sorry that I only began this recording after Helen had been speaking for some time.

Let's go Queensland! https://socialist-alliance.org/party-registration/queensland

Socialist Alliance has been advised by the WA Electoral Commission that its registration application has progressed after the membership list and other paperwork that we submitted were checked and approved. Next the WAEC advertises the application for a month. Registration will enable us to stand candidates with our party name on the ballot paper in the 2029 state election.

It’s been a lot of work to get to this point, so a big thanks to everyone that signed our form and helped with the campaign. Recent changes to WA electoral laws have made it harder to register and a lot more expensive to stand. However, despite these obstacles, our appeal generated a lot of support as people look for an anti-capitalist political voice that stands up to climate destruction, genocide and the housing affordability crisis.

We have decided to run hard on the theme of 'Take Back the Wealth' and are gearing up to spread this message everywhere we can in the lead up to the 2028 federal election. Please get in touch and get involved.

This year’s Ecosocialism conference will, for the first time, be held in Magan-djin/Brisbane, once again drawing ecosocialists and activists from across the world.

Ecosocialism 2026: Resistance, Decolonisation, Liberation will take place September 11–13 at the Albion Peace Centre, Windsor, providing an opportunity to share experiences with local and international activists engaged in resisting capitalism’s depravity and building mass movements for system change.

Among the international speakers announced are:

Sabrina Fernandes, a Brazilian ecosocialist and political economist. Fernandes is member of the Global Ecosocialist Network and has published books and articles on ecosocialism, internationalism, leftist organising and Latin America and Global South politics.

Ian Angus, Climate & Capitalism editor and long-time activist in socialist and environmental movements in Canada. Angus is the author of Facing the Anthropocene, The War Against the Commons and Metabolic Rifts: Capitalism’s Assault on the Earth System.

Helen Yaffe, a professor of Latin American Political Economy at University of Glasgow, and author of We Are Cuba! How a Revolutionary People Have Survived in a Post-Soviet World.

Several activists from the Asian region will also participate, including:

Ayesha Ahmad, a Pakistani socialist-feminist activist and researcher, educator and labour rights practitioner with the Haqooq-e-Khalq Party (People’s Rights Party).

N Sai Balaji, a member of the Central Headquarters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and former president of the All India Students Association (AISA);

Khyl Ramos, the deputy project manager at Transform Asia Gender and Labor Institute, Inc. and Youth Coordinator for Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM — Party of the Labouring Masses) in the Philippines.

Rocky, an abolitionist activist and organiser in Singapore.

Yong Feng, a Singapore Climate Rally activist who completed a masters in political ecology, environmental justice and degrowth in Barcelona.

Local keynote speakers will include Remah Naji, an activist with Justice for Palestine Magan-djin, who has played a leading role in organising against Israel’s genocide against the people of Gaza. She is a member of the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network board and a committed unionist and social justice campaigner.

Organisers will announce more international guests, as well as more speakers from across Australia, in the coming days.
