Storm season is well and truly here, and severe storms can bring hail, which hits hard and fast and sometimes with little warning ⛈️

Spend a few moments getting ready before the storm starts rolling in. Here’s a few things to consider:

🚗 Park your car under cover, away from trees, powerlines and creeks
🪑 Secure outdoor furniture, bins, chemicals and poisons
🏠 Close windows, shutters and curtains
👨‍👩‍👧 Bring kids and pets inside, and keep your emergency kit nearby in case the power goes

When a storm hits, stay inside and away from windows and skylights until it passes.

But after heavy rainfall, floodwater can conceal washed-out roads, dangerous currents and unexpected hazards.

In just the past few weeks, we've seen some of the biggest and heaviest 4WDs on Queensland roads become buoyant and get swept away in floodwater.

A 4WD, snorkel, lift kit or off-road modifications won't make driving through floodwater safe.

Even the most experienced drivers and well-equipped vehicles are no match for unpredictable floodwaters.

If it's flooded, forget it.
