Team Redcliffe just showed us exactly what it's all about, they worked hard and raised $6,793.90 for older women living tough 🩷

Two mates, matching tees, a car boot decked out in streamers, and a message that says it all: when a team gets involved, big things can happen.

That's the heart of Live Like Her Challenge. It was never going to be one person fixing this. It's mates signing up together, workplaces forming teams, local businesses chipping in, all pointing at the same thing: older women sleeping without a safe place to call home.

You can feel it in a car park full of pink ribbons and open boots. 🩷

This is what community looks like when it shows up for older women doing it tough. Chairs out, boots decorated, people leaning in to actually talk and listen, not just show up for a photo.

Nights like this exist because older women are the fastest growing group facing homelessness in Australia, and most of them are doing it quietly, out of sight. The Live Like Her Challenge puts that reality front and centre, one car park at a time.

The moment we got to stop and say thank you 🩷

On the night of the Live Like Her Challenge, we paused to celebrate the people who went above and beyond, the ones who rallied their mates, worked a little extra, showed up a little louder for older women facing homelessness.

Our ambassador Emily-Jayde led this part of the evening, sharing her own story before handing the mic to the community. Every single person in that car park played a part. This was just a moment to shine a light on a few ✨

Kim Knox has a voice and standing in her community, and she chose to use it for older women who don't have either right now 💔

At Live Like Her Challenge Brisbane, she didn't just show up for the night. She moved through the crowd, sat with attendees, listened to their stories, and shared her own. No performance, no distance, just one person making sure others didn't feel alone in it.

When Channel 9's Luke Bradnam turned up on the night, it said something we already know: this community shows up.

That's what the Live Like Her Challenge is built on. Not one big saviour, but a whole community of people (media, mates, mums, local businesses) turning up and giving what they can, when they can.

Luke gave his voice and his platform. Others give a night in their car, a donation, a shared post, a decorated car boot. It all adds up to the same thing: older women getting a safe place to sleep.

Both nights of the Live Like Her Challenge sounded and looked the way they did because of Microhire.

Meet Sophie and her mum Elisha 🩷

They took part in the Gold Coast Live Like Her Challenge together, and Sophie found the most heartwarming way to fundraise: she sold her book week costume to raise money for older women experiencing homelessness.

Sophie and Elisha showed up for older women they'll probably never meet. That's the whole point.

Every Live Like Her Challenge, there's a group of people who show up before the sun goes down, help participants settle into their cars for the night, and stay close until morning.

That's our volunteers 🩷

They set up, they check in on people through the night, they hold space for hard conversations, and they remind everyone why we're doing this in the first place, so older women don't have to face nights like this alone. None of it happens without them.

So today, we just want to say it plainly: thank you. To every volunteer who's given their time, their energy, and their heart to this movement, older women experiencing homelessness have safer, more stable futures because you showed up.
