What a fantastic night at the Down Syndrome & Intellectual Disability Queensland Masquerade Ball! 💚🎭

Care Roots was proud to be a Silver Sponsor, and our team had a wonderful time catching up with familiar faces, meeting new people and enjoying plenty of laughs around our table!

This year’s theme, “Discover the Real Me”, was a lovely reminder to get to know each person—their personality, interests and what matters to them.

A big thank you to the whole DSIDQ team and everyone who helped bring the evening together. We were so pleased to be part of it!

🎓 WELCOME TO CARE ROOTS ACADEMY, CODY!

We’re excited to officially welcome Cody to the Care Roots Academy!

Cody is starting an exciting new chapter focused on employment, further study, building confidence and creating more opportunities for his future.

As part of his journey with the Academy, Cody will be working towards his Diploma of Hospitality Management, while continuing to build his skills and experience in the workplace.

Over the coming months, we’ll be working alongside Cody to:

🎓 Support him through his Diploma of Hospitality Management
💼 Build his employment skills and explore future career opportunities
🤝 Develop confidence and communication skills
🍽️ Grow his experience within the hospitality industry
🎯 Set goals and turn them into real, achievable steps

The Care Roots Academy is about more than completing a course or finding a job. It’s about helping people discover what they’re capable of and giving them the support to work towards it.

Cody has some big goals ahead — and we’re looking forward to being part of the journey.

🏀 GOOD LUCK, BRISBANE BULLETS! 💙💛

With the Brisbane Bullets kicking off their season tonight, everyone at Care Roots wants to wish the team all the best for the season ahead.

We recently had the opportunity to take four of our participants to Brisbane Bullets HQ for a very special experience.

The group toured the facilities, spent time on the training court, shot a few hoops with some of the players and even picked up a few tips from the coach.

It was an awesome day and one our participants won’t forget.

At Care Roots, community participation is about much more than just getting out into the community. It’s about connection, confidence, new experiences and creating genuine memories.

A huge thank you to everyone at the Brisbane Bullets for making the group feel so welcome.

Now it’s our turn to cheer you on.

🎉 Welcome to Care Roots Academy, Thomas!

We’re excited to support Thomas as he begins his journey with the Academy, building new skills, growing his confidence and working towards his employment goals.

Thomas will be developing his very own podcast, exploring disability, life and everything in between. From researching topics and learning podcast technology to interviewing guests and connecting with the community, there are exciting things ahead!

👀 Keep an eye out for his Podcast and one of his first guests - one of the greatest players ever to represent Queensland in State of Origin!

Our practical life academy supports people with disability to build real-life skills, greater independence, meaningful friendships and confidence in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Participants enjoy structured learning in the classroom and out in the community, including practical activities, community experiences, teamwork and opportunities to explore future pathways.

Every participant has their own learning journey, with personalised goals and support tailored to their individual needs, interests and abilities.
