🎃 SPOOKTAKULAR SATURDAY IS BACK… WITH A CHRISTMAS TWIST!🎄👻

We are just as disappointed as everyone else when this weeks rain forced us to cancel Spooktakular Saturday. But we weren't going to let a little wet weather ruin all the fun we'd planned!

So we've decided to combine two of our favourite holidays into one big celebration…

🖤🎅 THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!🎅🖤

We're bringing the spooky fun of Halloween together with the magic of Christmas for a FREE family-friendly afternoon at Minnippi Parklands!

And we've got plenty planned!
🎶 Live music
🎩 Magic show
🏰 Inflatables
🎅 Santa and his reindeer
📸 Photo booths
🍔 Food trucks
🎁 Christmas presents

👻 And a few spooky surprises!

Whether you're feeling spooky, festive or a little bit of both, we'd love you to join us!
🗓️ Sunday, 6 December 2026
🕒 3pm–7pm
📍 Minnippi Parklands, via Stanton Road West, Tingalpa

A huge thank you to our wonderful performers, vendors, volunteers and sponsors who have helped us turn a disappointing cancellation into something even bigger!

❤️ Proudly supported by Quota Carindale, Rivermakers, Carina Leagues Club and Pat Ivey from Harcourts.

So dust off your Halloween costumes, grab your Santa hats and mark your calendars. We're going to make up for our cancelled Spooktakular in style! 🎃🎄

Please share with your friends and family. We'd love to see you there!❤️

🎃👻 IMPORTANT UPDATE: SPOOKTAKULAR SATURDAY CANCELLED 👻🎃

Unfortunately, Spooktakular Saturday, scheduled for this Saturday, 24 October at Minnippi Parklands, has been cancelled due to all this rain - the ground will be too wet for vehicles access.

We know so many of you were looking forward to an afternoon of Halloween fun and we’re so sorry for the disappointment.

A huge thank you to our amazing community, performers, stallholders, vendors and sponsors for your support and understanding. 🧡 🖤

Please share this post with friends and family who were planning to join us.

📣 EAST VILLAGE, CANNON HILL

Anthony John Group has lodged a development application with Brisbane City Council for a residential, commercial and shopping precinct at East Village, on the corner of Wynnum Road and Creek Road.

The new submission to Council includes:
- Approximately 1,065 apartments across the completed precinct.
- Buildings ranging from 16 to 25 storeys.
- Approximately 23,745m² of retail and commercial space.
- New public open spaces, landscaping and pedestrian connections.
- An initial proposed stage of 19 storeys containing 127 apartments.

💻 You can view the full application on Council's Development.i website:

Application number: A007133853

📖 What are the current planning rules for this site?

The proposed building heights go beyond what is currently accepted under Council’s planning framework, and the developer is seeking changes to the planning framework applying to the site.

🗣️ When can residents have their say?

The formal public notification arrangements for this development application are yet to be confirmed.

Once the opportunity for formal submissions is confirmed, I'll update the community and letterbox drop nearby residents so everyone knows how to have their say.

👋 Now, for my personal thoughts on this application.

I suspect the timing of this application isn't coincidental.

Brisbane City Council is currently investigating opportunities for additional housing and development around Cannon Hill and Murarrie through its Suburban Renewal Precinct planning process.

The applicant has referenced this process throughout its submission to Council and has specifically requested that future planning controls recognise the site's capacity for increased building heights and density.

In my opinion, the developer may be testing the appetite for greater density at East Village while Council considers the future of the Cannon Hill and Murarrie precinct plan.

Earlier this year, I letterbox dropped homes across parts of Cannon Hill and Murarrie with a survey asking residents what they would like improved in their neighbourhood and where they believe additional housing and density could benefit our community.

Council is currently reviewing your feedback, with further consultation on the draft precinct plan anticipated in early 2027.

The images attached to this post have been taken from the developer's submission. I encourage interested residents to look through the full application, as there is considerably more information available.

🛎️ But I’m keen to hear from you.

What do you think about this proposal?

Are you supportive of more housing, shops and restaurants at this location?

What do you think about the proposed building heights?
