Looking for a local playgroup? Carina State School P&C Playgroup runs every Tuesday during school term.

Come along this Tuesday for some easy fun, and a relaxing way to introduce your little one to the world of school!

📅 Tuesdays 9.15-10.40am during school term
📌 Located at the outdoor prep area (weather permitting)
👶 Open to children aged 0–5 years
🧸 Explore role play, a big sandpit, playground fun, and hands-on craft activities
☕ Enjoy a coffee or tea while the kids play and connect with others

Our playgroup is a wonderful opportunity to gently expose and prepare children for school. By spending time in our prep environment, children become familiar with the spaces, routines, and sounds of a real prep setting. They might even have opportunities to peek into prep classrooms and see learning in action!

It’s a great chance to make new friends, build confidence, and feel connected to our school community. We’d love to see you there!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and joined in the fun! It was amazing to see so many smiling faces enjoying the activities, exploring our school, and celebrating together!!

Our students had an amazing time visiting each activity with their very own Under 8s passport, collecting stamps and stickers along the way. It was a huge hit and added even more excitement to the day!

Our walking bus is still on tomorrow. The weather looks like it will be kind to us. See you at 8am on the corner of Tristan and Bedivere Sts in your active wear!

A community that walks together wins together! Congratulations Carina we are the April winners of the Brisbane City Council awards. We won the award for the highest increase in active travellers from our baseline data! We get the trophy for the month and a $100 Hart Sports voucher.

Don’t forget next Wednesday is our second walking bus this year. Starting at the corner of Tristan st and Bedivere st at 8am. Students can wear their active gear in support of being active!

At Carina State School, we are excited to celebrate all things early childhood with a fun-filled afternoon for our youngest learners and their families—and everyone is welcome! This event is open to our local community, so come along and join the fun!

🌈 Enjoy a wide variety of engaging activities set up in our school grounds—there’ll be something for every child to explore, create, and enjoy!

This year’s Under 8s Day is extra special as we celebrate 70 years of this wonderful event—honouring the importance of play, learning, and imagination in the early years. It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience our school in action, meet our community, and see the wonderful environment where young learners grow and thrive.

🚗 Parking is available on Cuthred Street for easy access to all of our Under 8s Day activities.

💃🕺 Our school is buzzing with energy as our dance curriculum comes to life!

Students have been eagerly practicing at lunchtime, perfecting their moves, building confidence, and most importantly—having a whole lot of fun. The smiles, teamwork, and enthusiasm on display have been incredible to see!

We’re so proud of the way our students are embracing this opportunity to express themselves, support one another, and shine. We can’t wait to showcase all their hard work at our whole school performance this Friday! 🌟

Today, our Carina community came together to pause, reflect and honour the courage and sacrifice of the ANZAC’s who have served and continue to serve our nation.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their respectful conduct and thoughtful participation, and we thank you staff and community members who joined us in acknowledging this day in our calendar.

Wednesday, waffles and walking to school is still a go! Join us if you can tomorrow morning at 8am at the circled point where we will walk to school as part of our active school travel initiative.
