We support Neighbourhood Houses to foster strong, safe and vibrant communities that value diversity.

We are the peak body for 400 Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres across Victoria. COMMUNITY USE RULES

We aim for our social media channels to be safe and respectful online spaces for all community members to participate with and enjoy. To achieve this, Neighbourhood Houses Victoria will remove certain comments, as soon as they come to our attention, and remove users who continually non-comply. What we get wrong about social cohesion: It’s not the absence of conflict, it’s the presence of community.

Band-aid initiatives, like investments in security and prisons, may address the symptoms, but they will not cure the disease. You can’t enforce your way to greater community cohesion.

No one should have to choose between food and rent, or healthcare and the kids’ school supplies. But for too many Victorians that’s the daily reality.

And the sector tasked with stepping in when people hit crisis is being asked to do more with less.

We’ve joined the community sector’s Essentials for Everyone campaign because poverty isn’t acceptable and it’s not inevitable – it’s a result of choices. We’re calling on all parties and candidates to make different choices.
