Next-generation chemical threat detection is here.

Liam Eldon, Chief Growth Officer of Forward Deployed, spoke to the Innovation Victoria team about how support through the University Innovation Platform (UIP) will unlock new opportunities for the company’s growth and its plans for the DINGO device.

The combined $1 million investment from Innovation Victoria and Swinburne University of Technology through the UIP was announced yesterday.

Innovation Victoria invests in Forward Deployed.

The combined $1 million investment with Swinburne University of Technology will support the independent validation of DINGO, Forward Deployed’s modular threat detection engine.

The company’s three co-founders - Chief Executive Officer Richard Hebden, Chief Technology Officer Alex Barry and Chief Growth Officer Liam Eldon - met while studying at the university.

The team is currently piloting the product across laboratory and tactical use cases, focusing primarily on defence applications in the near term with plans to explore applications in biosecurity and agriculture over the longer term.

Innovation Victoria is proud to announce an additional $10 million in funding for the Alice Anderson Fund.

Named after the legendary Victorian innovator, the Fund aims to remove barriers that limit women's participation and success in Australia's innovation ecosystem by improving access to long-term capital.

Its recent investments include Butter, an innovative Australian community management "operating system" built to combat adult loneliness; Spektrum, which is bringing greater visibility and transparency to critical minerals value chains; and Misti, who are developing advanced aerosol technology that makes inhaled medicines more precise, reliable and easier to deliver, improving respiratory treatment for conditions such as asthma, COPD and cystic fibrosis.

Meet the 2026 recipients of the Innovation Victoria Fellowship.

Under the University Innovation Platform Innovation Victoria is investing up to $150,000 per startup for the next generation of researchers.

From artificial muscle technology and plastic contamination detection to predictive software to help pharmacies anticipate and manage medicine shortages, these three founders are turning their cutting-edge research into real-world solutions.

We look forward to seeing the progress of this year's cohort from Swinburne University of Technology and Monash University; Joshua Ince (Poly-Motion), Arie Levin (APRM Technologies) and Vansh*ta Johar (LocalPharm).
