Ten bands played at the State High Rock School End of Year Concert which was a colourful celebration of talent, showcasing the development of our bands from this year’s program.

It was also the culmination of years of collaboration for our Year 12 cohort who have been such valuable contributors to our program. We wish them well and look forward to seeing them rocking into their future!

Congratulations to Siwoo L, who has achieved an outstanding result at the Queensland State Track & Field Championships, held at QSAC from 12–14 October.

Representing Met East, Siwoo progressed through the heats and semi-finals in both the 100m and 200m, earning his place in both finals — and then went on to take GOLD in both events!

As the Queensland State Champion in the 12 Years Boys 100m and 200m, Siwoo is officially the fastest 12 year old boy in Queensland in both events at these championships. 🔥

But the success didn’t stop there! Siwoo also secured 🥉 BRONZE in the 4×100m relay with the Met East team.

Earlier this year, Siwoo set a new Brisbane State High School 200m record at the School Athletics Carnival in July. He then broke the 12 Years Boys 100m record at the Met East Regional Trials in August — a record that had stood since 2014. 👏

These incredible performances have earned Siwoo a place representing Queensland at the National Track & Field Championships, taking place from 28 November–3 December 2026.

Congratulations, Siwoo! What an incredible year of sprinting — and what an achievement to represent Queensland on the national stage! 💙❤️💙

Today, we celebrate the incredible teachers who inspire, challenge and support our students every day at Brisbane State High School. 💙❤️💙

As part of our World Teachers’ Day celebrations, we’re proud to recognise some of our dedicated staff who have reached significant service milestones — 10, 15, 20, 25, and an incredible 30 years of service.

These milestones represent decades of knowledge, care, commitment and countless contributions to the lives of students and our school community.

To all our teachers and education staff, thank you for the difference you make each and every day. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication and the lasting impact you have on generations of State High students.

Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🌟

The Brisbane State High School Languages Faculty and the whole school community congratulate Molly L and Raphael B on being awarded the Global Engagement StudItalia Prize! Both students navigated a rigorous selection process and stood out among a high volume of exceptional applicants from across Queensland to earn this incredible opportunity.

The prize offers an all-expenses-paid month in the picturesque town of Cividale, Italy, where Queensland students attend classes alongside Italian peers at the Convitto Paolo Diacono. With no pressure of homework or exams, the focus is on developing language and intercultural competence, embracing new experiences and forming lifelong friendships.

Both Molly and Raph are exceptional students, communicators and contributors to the class and school community. Their teachers, the Language Department and school are so proud of their unflagging efforts, and we know they will be wonderful ambassadors for State High and Queensland.

A special mention and thanks to Ms Young, whose passion for teaching Italian has inspired her students and encouraged them to pursue this life-changing opportunity.

We wish Molly and Rafael a month filled with learning, laughter and unforgettable experiences. We have no doubt they will enrich the lives of those they meet along the way, too.

Then at the end of November, she’s off to Melbourne for Track & Field Nationals competing in the 100m and 200m races!

These achievements are a testament to her talent, dedication, and commitment to sports.
