In recent weeks our FTVNM, Media Arts, Visual Arts and Drama students had the opportunity to explore the special effects pathway of horror film make up!
Their imaginations ran wild as explained the (donโt worry, VERY FAKE) ways to create (disturbingly!) realistic and very gory wounds. Look out for some future horror films from these very bloodthirsty young creatives!

BSHS Student (1984โ1988) & Rowing Coach
The Brisbane State High School rowing community is deeply saddened by the passing of former student and esteemed coach, Damon Stokes.
We gratefully acknowledge Damonโs years of exceptional dedication to the BSHS girlsโ rowing program during the early 1990s. His technical expertise and unwavering commitment guided numerous crews to historic victories at the Head of the River (1990โ1993) and State Championships. Notably, Damon coached the Open 1st VIII to consecutive Head of the River victories in 1992 and 1993, anchoring BSHS as a premier powerhouse in schoolgirls' rowing.
Following his time at State High, Damon continued his lifelong devotion to the sport through impactful coaching roles at the Australian Institute of Sport, Stuartholme School, and Gregory Terrace. He also served as the Director of Rowing at St Margaretโs Anglican Girls School for many years.
The BSHS community extends its deepest gratitude for Damon's profound service, and offers heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers to his family.
