🌈 Imagine being told you can be exactly who you are—and having someone in your corner while you figure out what that means.
That’s what belonging feels like.
At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary & Area, we believe every young person deserves relationships that help them build confidence, discover who they are, and know they’re valued exactly as they are.
Pride Month is a celebration, but it’s also a reminder of the power of acceptance, community, and showing up for one another.
To the young people finding their voice, the mentors helping them navigate life, and the community members working to create spaces where everyone belongs: thank you.
We’re proud to celebrate Pride, diversity, and the many identities that make our city vibrant, resilient, and beautiful.
Because every young person deserves to feel seen.
And every young person deserves to know they belong. 🌈

A big thanks to Councillor Andrew Yule for sharing a bit about and supporting young people seeking mentorship 🙌
Big thanks to Ken Lima-Coelho, President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Calgary, for taking the time to share more about the important and meaningful work BBBS is doing to support children and youth across our city.
Through one-to-one mentoring relationships, Big Brothers Big Sisters helps young people from age six into young adulthood build confidence, connection, and support through simple, everyday moments. Whether that’s going for a walk, getting help with homework, grabbing a bite to eat, or just spending time together, small moments of connection can have lifelong impacts.
Right now, Ward 3 has 12 mentor/mentee matches, but many more young people are still waiting for a connection. There is a particular need for male mentors, so if this feels like something that could be a good fit for you, consider this your sign to lean in and get involved.
