31 Canadian Brigade Group - 31e Groupe-Brigade Du Canada

: Two current 31 Canadian Brigade Group - 31e Groupe-Brigade Du Canada units trace their history to the Normandy Campaign of 1944: The 1st Hussars and The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada.

Both regiments carry forward a proud legacy of service during the Second World War and the Allied liberation of Northwest Europe.

Deux unités actuelles du 31 Canadian Brigade Group - 31e Groupe-Brigade Du Canada ont des liens historiques avec la campagne de Normandie de 1944 : le 1er Hussards et le Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada.

Ces deux régiments perpétuent avec fierté leur engagement durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et la libération du Nord-Ouest de l'Europe par les Alliés.

Members of the 1st Hussars gathered on June 6 to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy, honouring the courage, sacrifice and service of Canada and our allies who helped liberate Europe during the Second World War. A change of appointment ceremony was also conducted, marking the transition from Chief Warrant Officer S. Elliott, CD to Chief Warrant Officer R.J.C. Sharpe, CD. The appointment of a new Regimental Sergeant-Major completes the new 31 CAV tactical grouping between the 1st Hussars and The Windsor Regiment (RCAC).

As one of Canada's oldest armoured regiments, the 1st Hussars continues to draw inspiration from those who came before us while evolving to meet the challenges of modern military operations.

While the Canadian Army continues to modernize and adapt to meet today's challenges, we remain deeply connected to the history and traditions that shape our identity. Remembering the achievements of those who served before us helps inspire the next generation of soldiers.

Le 6 juin, les membres du 1er Hussards se sont réunis pour commémorer le 82e anniversaire du débarquement de Normandie et de la bataille de Normandie, rendant hommage au courage, au sacrifice et au service du Canada et de ses alliés qui ont contribué à la libération de l'Europe pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Une cérémonie de passation de grade a également eu lieu, marquant le passage de l'adjudant-chef S. Elliott, CD à l'adjudant-chef R.J.C. Sharpe, CD. La nomination d'un nouveau sergent-major régimentaire complète le nouveau groupement tactique 31 CAV entre le 1er Hussards et le Régiment de Windsor (RCAC).

Figurant parmi les plus anciens régiments blindés du Canada, le 1er Hussards continue de s'inspirer de ses prédécesseurs tout en évoluant pour relever les défis des opérations militaires modernes.

Alors que l'Armée canadienne poursuit sa modernisation et son adaptation aux défis actuels, elle demeure profondément attachée à son histoire et à ses traditions qui façonnent son identité. On Saturday, May 30th 2026, the 56th Field Artillery Regiment (RCA) and the 11th Field Artillery Regiment (RCA) underwent a change of command ceremony celebrating the formation of the new tactical grouping between the two units, as well as the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Rasheed as tactical group commanding officer, and the appointment of tactical group Regimental Sergeant Major CWO Morgan.

Tactical Groupings are a result of Canadian Army modernization initiatives to increase operational effectiveness. Although operationally combined, the Regiments will maintain their distinct, proud regimental histories, uniforms, and ceremonial functions.

Le samedi 30 mai 2026, le 56e Régiment d’artillerie de campagne (RAC) et le 11e Régiment d’artillerie de campagne (RAC) ont tenu une cérémonie de passation de commandement soulignant la formation du nouveau groupement tactique entre les deux unités, ainsi que la nomination du lieutenant-colonel Rasheed comme commandant du groupement tactique et celle de l’adjudant-major régimentaire Morgan comme sergent-major régimentaire du groupement tactique.

Les groupements tactiques découlent des initiatives de modernisation de l’Armée canadienne visant à accroître son efficacité opérationnelle. Bien que combinés sur le plan opérationnel, les régiments conserveront leur histoire, leurs uniformes et leurs cérémonies propres.

On Sunday, May 24th 2026, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) and the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry underwent a change of command ceremony at John Weir Foote Armoury in Hamilton, Ontario. The ceremony celebrated the formation of the new tactical grouping between the two Hamilton units and the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel MacInnis as commanding officer, as well as the appointment of Regimental Sergeant Major CWO Calconi. Tactical groupings are an important part of the Canadian Army's new modernization initiative.

Le dimanche 24 mai 2026, le régiment des Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) et le Royal Hamilton Light Infantry ont participé à une cérémonie de passation de commandement au manège militaire John Weir Foote à Hamilton, en Ontario. Cette cérémonie a célébré la formation du nouveau groupement tactique entre les deux unités de Hamilton et la nomination du lieutenant-colonel MacInnis comme commandant, ainsi que celle de l’adjudant-chef Calconi comme sergent-major régimentaire.
