🏃‍♂️ A huge shoutout to the incredible Captain John from Salvation Army, who took on the Half Marathon this past weekend - in some seriously HOT weather too! ☀️🔥

John described himself as “the least sporty person” he knows, but that didn’t stop him from setting himself an amazing challenge and crossing the finish line in an impressive ⏱️ 2hrs 15m 52s!

Even more amazing? He raised a fantastic 💙 £2,750 ❤️ to support the work of Kirkwall Salvation Army! These funds will help support individuals and families across the local community where they offer:

👶 Toddler groups
💬 Ladies fellowship nights
🎨 Craft Clubs
🤝 Friendship Clubs
🍽️ Lunch Clubs
✨ And so much more!

From training in the cooler conditions of Orkney to tackling the heat of Edinburgh, this was no easy feat - but John pushed through and should be so proud of what he achieved 👏🎉

Our this week is the amazing Harvey, who took on the 🏃‍♂ Bristol Half Marathon! 🎉

Harvey is a Young People’s Band Leader at Bristol Citadel, and he shared:
"Running for the army was a no-brainer for me! Being a member of the army all my life means I’ve seen with my own eyes the amazing work my church does in the community!" ❤️💙

Not only did Harvey push himself to complete the half marathon - an incredible achievement in itself 👏 - but he also raised an amazing £1,300 for Bristol Citadel! These funds will help continue vital support services for people in the area 🙌

Harvey said:
"Through the pains and aches, it was this vital work that was ‘running’ through my mind around the 13 mile course!" 💪

A huge congratulations and thank you to Harvey - you absolutely smashed it and we couldn’t be more grateful for your support and dedication! 🌟

❤️ A huge congratulations to 10 incredible students from the University of Nottingham who took to the skies and completed a skydive to raise funds for The Salvation Army’s work in Nottingham! 🪂✨

Together, they raised an amazing £6,500+ which will make a huge difference to people in need in the local community 💙

The funds raised will help support:
☕ A drop-in café at Aspley Salvation Army, where people can find a warm welcome and a listening ear
💬 A student wellbeing programme and community support at William Booth Memorial Halls in Nottingham city centre
👨‍👩‍👧 Family Club at Meadows Salvation Army, supporting children and families in a financially challenged area of Nottingham

One of the skydivers, Ali, said:
“Probably almost definitely the coolest thing I’ve done in my life so far, and was for such a great cause. I hope the money raised will help as many people as possible and thanks to The Salvation Army for the opportunity!” ✨

We are so grateful to every single student who took part, as well as everyone who donated and supported them along the way. Your bravery, enthusiasm, and generosity will help bring hope and practical support to so many people locally ❤️
