Let’s Talk Enhancing Magor with Undy – placemaking plan

Last year, local residents shared their ideas about how Magor with Undy village centre could be improved. Those views have helped shape a series of proposed projects, and now we'd like to know what you think.

This is your opportunity to review the proposals, tell us what you support, and help shape the future of the village centre.

Take part in the consultation, running from Wednesday 14 October until Wednesday 4 November, and have your say.

Visit www.letstalkmonmouthshire.co.uk/magor-plan or pick up a paper survey from Magor Town Council’s offices.

Every response will help inform the next steps for these proposals and ensure local priorities remain at the heart of the plans.

The council continues to follow the advice of its appointed bridge consultant to help protect the Old Wye Bridge in Chepstow and ensure people can use it safely.

Recent structural assessments confirmed that the bridge can continue to accommodate limited pedestrian use, with one footway remaining open. However, large crowds would place additional pressure on the structure and could increase the risk of existing cracks worsening or further defects developing.

As a precaution, the bridge will therefore be fully closed during events that are expected to attract large numbers of people.

The bridge will therefore be closed Sat 7th November at 4:00 and reopen 10:00am Sunday 8th November for the Chepstow Racecourse Fireworks Display.

After the event, the bridge will reopen under the existing arrangements, with one footway available for pedestrians.

Struggling with heating costs? You might be able to get help.

Lots of people don’t realise they could be eligible for support with their energy
costs, through schemes like the Warm Home Discount Scheme.

It could help you stay warm, take some pressure off your bills, and look after your
health this winter.

Let’s Talk… The Welsh language is an important part of Monmouthshire's identity, heritage and culture, but we recognise that people have different experiences and connections with it.

We're consulting on our draft Welsh Language Strategy 2027-2032 and would like to hear from residents of all backgrounds. We want to understand what would encourage more people to learn, use, hear and see Welsh in everyday life, as well as any barriers that exist.

The consultation closes on 30 November 2026.
