🥔 Why do we run the Spud Truck?

School holidays should be a time for children to enjoy themselves. But for families on a tight budget, they can bring extra worry.

When school meals stop, there are more lunches to find. Add in childcare, holiday clubs and keeping the children entertained, and the costs soon mount up.

Our Spud Truck is part of Caring Cooks’ Holiday Hunger campaign. We serve free, hot jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings to give families who need a little help one less thing to worry about.

There’s no sign-up, no referral and no need to explain your circumstances. No judgement and no stigma. Just come along, collect your food and enjoy it together. 💚

It’s also a chance to get out of the house, meet other families and do something with the children that doesn’t come with another bill.

We know that needing a little support can happen to any of us. Whether things are difficult at the moment or the school holidays are stretching your budget, you’ll find a friendly welcome at our Spud Truck.

That’s what it’s all about. One less worry for families during the school holidays 💚

See you at half term!

UPDATE: Students should be in full school uniform tomorrow. The Kempt House Charity week will be concluded during the next half term. Thank you.

Good Evening

Further to our earlier email, we have received an update earlier than we expected.

Given the significant risks posed by Storm Austen, the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning has made a decision that all Government schools and colleges will close on Friday 23 October 2026.

Where possible, considering the short notice, Teachers will make learning resources available online for students. Please encourage your son/daughter to access these resources.

We have been asked to communicate this to our parents/guardians as early as possible to give you the opportunity to make any plans that you may need to make in terms of childcare arrangements.

CYPES will continue to share further information with us when available, and, in turn, where appropriate we will share any relevant information with you.

Please also continue to follow Government of Jersey social media channels and Jersey Met for the latest advice.

I am sorry if this causes inconvenience. Please do not hesitate to contact the school tomorrow, Thursday, either at the phone, 01534 736524, or by email, at [email protected].

Stay safe.

Year 7 Trip to La Hougue Bie

The trip that was scheduled to take place on Friday this week, 23 October, has unfortunately been postponed. This is as a result of the high winds that are forecast, it is felt that it would not be appropriate to take students out of school and to travel unnecessarily.

This trip will be resheduled.

Thank you.
