From September 28–30, 2026, the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF), in partnership with the Department of Tourism – Philippines, conducted the MAKANAYON Philippine Cultural Leadership Workshop for tourism practitioners in the City of Isabela de Basilan.

Hosted by the Local Government Unit of Isabela City, the three-day workshop brought together tourism practitioners, local stakeholders, cultural workers, community representatives, and tourism frontliners for meaningful conversations, collaborative activities, and reflections on responsible and sustainable tourism.

Anchored on the five core MAKANAYON values—Makatao, Makakalikasan, Mapanagutan, Makabayan, and Makadiwa—the workshop emphasized that tourism leadership goes beyond destinations, visitor arrivals, and economic gains. It is about protecting our cultural heritage, caring for our environment, upholding accountability, strengthening our sense of nationhood, and creating meaningful opportunities for our communities. 💚🌱

Sa lungsod ng Isabela de Basilan, muling pinagtibay ang diwa ng pagiging isang MAKANAYON Leader—ang kakayahang mag-isip, kumilos, at mamuhay para sa kapakanan ng pamayanan at ng buong bayan.

Through interactive discussions, group activities, and action-planning sessions, participants explored how the MAKANAYON values can be translated into concrete initiatives that promote inclusive, culturally grounded, and sustainable tourism in their respective communities.

The Nayong Pilipino Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Tourism, the Local Government Unit of the City of Isabela de Basilan, our dedicated facilitators, partners, stakeholders, and participants for their invaluable support and active participation throughout this meaningful three-day learning journey.

IN PHOTOS: Filipinization Labelling Program Training for the National Capital Region and South Luzon | September 18–19, 2026

In partnership with the Department of Tourism – Philippines, through the Office of Tourism Standards and Regulation (OTSR), the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) successfully conducted the 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 for tourism stakeholders from the National Capital Region (NCR) and South Luzon.

Through this training, hotel owners, hotel general managers, and tourism front-liners learned practical ways kung paano mas maipapakita at maisasama ang Filipino culture and identity sa kanilang tourism establishments, services, at guest experiences.

The training featured three key modules:

Hindi lang ito tungkol sa paglalagay ng mga elementong Filipino sa mga tourism establishment. It is about understanding, appreciating, and responsibly showcasing our culture—from our local arts and designs to our culinary traditions, music, performances, and regional identities.

As the Philippines continues to welcome more visitors and prepare for major international engagements, the Filipinization Labelling Program reminds us that one of the strongest things we can bring to tourism is uniquely ours—our Filipino identity, culture, and hospitality.

From September 15–17, 2026, the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF), in partnership with the Department of Tourism - Philippines, conducted the 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 for tourism practitioners in Batangas Province, held in the historic municipality of Taal, Batangas. 🌿🇵🇭

Hosted by the Local Government Unit of Taal, Batangas, the three-day workshop brought together tourism practitioners, local stakeholders, cultural workers, community representatives, and tourism frontliners to learn, share, reflect, collaborate, and develop meaningful ways forward for the protection of culture, heritage, environment, and communities.

Through the five core MAKANAYON values—Makatao, Makakalikasan, Mapanagutan, Makabayan, and Makadiwa—participants were encouraged to look beyond tourism arrivals and numbers, and to understand tourism as a platform for responsible leadership, cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and meaningful service to communities. 💚

Sa Taal, Batangas, muling pinatunayan na ang pagiging isang MAKANAYON Leader ay higit pa sa pagsusulong ng turismo. Ito ay pagkilala sa ating responsibilidad bilang mga tagapangalaga ng kultura, kasaysayan, kalikasan, pamanang kultural, at higit sa lahat, ng mga pamayanang ating pinaglilingkuran. 🌊🌱

Sa pamamagitan ng mga interactive discussions, collaborative activities, reflections, at workshop sessions, nagkaroon ang mga kalahok ng pagkakataong maiugnay ang mga pagpapahalagang MAKANAYON sa kanilang sariling tungkulin at makapagbuo ng mga makabuluhang hakbang tungo sa responsible, inclusive, and sustainable tourism in Batangas.

Taos-puso ang pasasalamat ng Nayong Pilipino Foundation sa Department of Tourism-CALABARZON Region 4A, sa Local Government Unit of Taal, Batangas bilang host training venue, at sa lahat ng facilitators, partners, stakeholders, at participants na naging bahagi ng makabuluhang tatlong araw ng pagkatuto, pakikipagtulungan, at paglilingkod.
