𝐎𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐗 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐃𝐞𝐯 𝐏𝐀𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐔 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐄𝐬𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Organization of the DEPDev IX Employees (ODE IX) in partnership with the DEPDev IX – Philippine Air Force Affiliate Reserve Unit (PAFARU) participated in the Brigada Eskwela 2026 of Balintawak Elementary School on June 4, 2026, in Brgy. Balintawak, Pagadian City. As part of their support, the group donated paint, paintbrushes, and rollers to help prepare the school for the opening of classes.

This initiative reflects the spirit of bayanihan and the commitment of DEPDev IX personnel to support education and community development by helping create a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for learners.

The Philippines marks June as the Judiciary Month, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Supreme Court.

Declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 1265, s. 2026, the observance calls on government agencies, local government units, the private sector, and civil society to support and partake in the commemoration.

Established on June 11, 1901 through Act No. 136 of the Philippine Commission, the Supreme Court has stood as a pillar of justice—first led by Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano.

In line with this milestone year, the Court unveils a series of activities under the theme: “SC: 125 Years of Tradition and Innovation.”

DEPDev IX kicked off the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with “Raise the Flag, Wave It High” activity and “Tinig ng Kalayaan” song contest. During the contest, each participating team performed a powerful A Capella rendition of the song “Bayan Ko” by Freddie Aguilar. 🎤✨

The activities marked the start of a month-long celebration of the country’s independence.

📢 𝐑𝐏𝐌𝐂 𝐈𝐗 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) IX convened its Second Quarter 2026 Meeting on May 28, 2026, at the Grand Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City.

The Committee reviewed the results of Regular and Executive Field Monitoring Visits covering key infrastructure and development projects in Zamboanga City and Isabela City, including roads, irrigation, flood control, classrooms, university facilities, social welfare initiatives, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on port and water service projects.

Updates were also presented on:
• LWUA-implemented projects
• Rehabilitation of the Zamboanga City Fish Port Complex (ZCFPC)
• DOLE IX project inspections
• LPMC functionality
• ERPMES implementation
• DOT IX Tourist Rest Area projects

⚠️ Critical concerns discussed included:
• Delays in Right-of-way (RROW) acquisition
• Compliance with occupational safety and health (OSH) standards
• Rehabilitation issues involving the WMSU School of Architecture building

The meeting gathered representatives from national agencies, SUCs, LPMCs, and private-sector partners, highlighting a strong whole-of-government approach to project monitoring and implementation.

✅ RPMC IX reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency coordination and ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of priority projects across the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The Development Administration Committee (DevAdCom) of RDC IX welcomed ARTA IX as its newest member, during its second quarter meeting on May 26, 2026. This milestone marks a significant step toward promoting efficient governance and improved public service delivery in Zamboanga Peninsula.

DevAdCom IX deliberated the FY 2028 Annual Investment Program of its member-agencies, and approved the priority initiatives: construction of fire stations for BFP IX, upgrading of jail facilities for BJMP IX, and the ZamPen-LEAD Program of OCD IX focusing on logistics modernization, early warning, agile response, and district-level disaster preparedness.

Among key policy and development matters tackled included: HB No. 4018 on equitable regional budget allocation, activities for the 2026 RDC IX Week, updates on responses to the national energy emergency, ZamPen’s 2025 economic performance, and the municipal-level poverty estimates using Small Area Estimation.

The meeting, attended by 26 members, was presided over by DevAdCom IX Chairperson, Atty. Ruel S. Halanes, Regional Director of OCD IX, who continues to steer the Committee toward effective governance.

The Regional Land Use Committee IX discussed policy updates during its first semester meeting on May 26, 2026, via videoconference. Among these are the: DENR Administrative Order No. 2021-07, which reinforces environmental management and regulatory compliance; DA Circular Number 01, series of 2026, which imposes a temporary moratorium on land-use reclassification applications; and updates on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) preparation by DHSUD IX. The DENR IX also presented updates on boundary conflict cases filed in courts.

RLUC IX welcomed its newest member, the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), to further strengthen collaboration in the management of coastal and marine resources.

The meeting was presided over by DEPDev IX Regional Director and RLUC IX Chairperson Maria Felicidad R. Guerrero, with 14 RLUC members in attendance.

DEPDev IX recently met with the team from Science and Vision for Technology, Inc. (SVTI), together with Syconsult, Inc., for a coordination meeting on May 19, 2026. The goal is to develop a feasibility study and Master Plan for the Port of Jolo in Sulu.

This project is all about boosting port development and strengthening regional connectivity, because better access = more opportunities. 🌐📈

Led by Marilou Montano, the SVTI team sat down with DEPDev IX officials and staff headed by Leticia Lobren to talk strategy. Key topics? The Port of Jolo’s role in inter-regional and national growth, plus updates on the Regional Development Plan, Regional Development Investment Program, and the Mindanao Spatial Strategy Development Framework.

Also in focus: Sulu’s transition into Region IX, a game-changing shift that highlights its rising role in regional development. 💡
