LOOK || The much-anticipated Magdiwata Festival officially opened today, June 3 in the municipality of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, marking the beginning of a vibrant celebration of the town’s culture, heritage, and community spirit.

The opening ceremony was led by Mayor Grace Carmel Paredes-Bravo, together with Vice Mayor Jing Pulvera and members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB). Local government officials, community leaders, and residents gathered to witness the formal launch of the festivities.

In her message, Mayor Paredes-Bravo highlighted the importance of the Magdiwata Festival in promoting the municipality’s rich cultural identity and fostering unity among its people. She also encouraged everyone to actively participate in the various activities lined up for the celebration.

The Magdiwata Festival is one of the most significant annual events in San Francisco, showcasing the town’s traditions, talents, and achievements through cultural presentations, competitions, and community activities.

Pride in Diversity, Strength in Unity

This Pride Month, the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) stands in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ [Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Intersexual, Asexual +] community in celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the fundamental right of every individual to live with dignity and respect.

Pride is more than a celebration. It is a recognition of the unique stories, talents, and contributions of people from all walks of life. It reminds us that a stronger and more progressive society is built when everyone is empowered to participate, contribute, and succeed without barriers or discrimination.

As we continue to promote inclusive communities, let us foster understanding, acceptance, and respect for one another. By embracing our differences, we create spaces where every individual feels valued, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.

𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗦𝗔 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆/MB

LOOK || The Bicol Region (Region V) has donated projects worth approximately P4.1 million to the Bayugan Central Elementary School (BCES) Special Education (SPED) Center as a gesture of gratitude for the warm accommodation and hospitality extended to their delegation during their stay in the area.

The donated funds aim to enhance the school's learning environment and promote sustainable development. These include landscaping improvements, the establishment of a Manobo-Inspired Learning and Wellness Hub, mural painting activities, a vegetable garden, an eco-walk bridge, waste management facilities, renovation of comfort rooms, poultry farming facilities, the Bayugan Holistic Education and Beginners Sports Park, and the Nurture Environment, Nourished Earth Project, among others.

According to Fidel Vercels, Principal of the BCES SPED Center, the school community is deeply grateful for the generous contribution from the Bicol Region. He emphasized that the projects will greatly benefit both teachers and students by providing improved facilities and learning opportunities.

Vercels also assured donors that the school will properly maintain and protect the projects to ensure their sustainability and long-term impact on the educational development of the institution.
