The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Saturday reminded the public not to be misled by social media posts reportedly circulating with the image of military chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., which call for participation or help in some political activities and mass protests.
In a message to reporters, the military said these social media posts are "unauthorized and do not reflect the position of the AFP."

Higaonon tribal leaders and Indigenous Peoples (IPs) from several Bukidnon towns formally declared their rejection of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) during a peace assembly held Thursday, June 4 in this town.
The event was spearheaded by Bukidnon Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Datu Makayuba, also known as Renato Sumbongan, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bukidnon, the local government of Impasugong, and the Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Battalion.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the United States Indo-Pacific Command are training together, not for military operations purposes but for disaster preparedness and response.
Col. Xerxes Trinidad, AFP public affairs office chief, said the Philippine and US militaries formally opened the nine-day event, dubbed Exercise Tempest Express 41-2026, under the Multinational Planning Augmentation Team or MPAT program.

IN THE NEWS | Navy, PCG ships depart for world’s largest maritime war games
The Philippines on Thursday dispatched navy and coast guard vessels to Hawaii for Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2026, the world’s largest multinational maritime warfare exercise.
In Zambales, BRP Miguel Malvar, the Philippine Navy’s newest and most heavily armed class of guided-missile corvettes, set sail with at least 138 personnel aboard. Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sent off its offshore patrol vessel BRP Gabriela Silang in a separate ceremony in Manila. This is the first time the PCG is participating in the biennial international exercise.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has expanded its educational partnership with the International Graduate School of Leadership (IGSL), broadening scholarship opportunities for military and civilian personnel within the organization.
The AFP announced Thursday that it signed an addendum to its existing Memorandum of Agreement with IGSL during a ceremony held on 3 June. The signing was led by Lt. Gen. Rommel P. Roldan, acting AFP chief of staff, and Dr. Great B. Mabuti, president of IGSL.

AFP, USINDOPACOM Lead Multinational Effort to Boost Disaster Preparedness
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), in partnership with the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), formally opened Exercise Tempest Express 41-2026 during a ceremony held on June 3 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Newport World Resorts in Pasay City.
Conducted under the Multinational Planning Augmentation Team (MPAT) Program, the exercise will run from June 3 to 11, and brings together representatives from 17 MPAT nations and 31 MPAT members, as well as humanitarian organizations and civilian agencies. The activity aims to strengthen disaster response planning, enhance interoperability, and improve coordination during humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.
As a key member of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the lead agency of the Search, Rescue, and Retrieval Cluster, the AFP continues to play a vital role in advancing a whole-of-government approach to disaster management.
The exercise underscores the AFP's commitment to building resilient partnerships and strengthening regional cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster response, ensuring participating nations are better prepared to respond collectively to complex emergencies and natural calamities.
