National symbols such as flags, coats of arms, and official emblems are generally not allowed to be registered as trademarks without proper authorization. This helps protect symbols that represent a country’s identity and sovereignty.
Trademark protection exists to distinguish brands and businesses, but certain symbols, including the Philippine flag, are protected because they carry a deeper national and cultural significance shared by all Filipinos.
As we observe National Flag Days from May 28 to June 12, let us honor the Philippine flag as a symbol of freedom, unity, and national pride. 🇵🇭
