𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Residents of Barangay Jatian, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, along with neighboring communities, now enjoy safer, faster, and more reliable access following the completion of the Rehabilitation of Spillway and Approach by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga del Norte 4th District Engineering Office, Siocon.

The completed project significantly improves connectivity in the area, facilitating the efficient transport of goods and services while providing a more dependable route, especially during adverse weather conditions when the spillway is most critical for passage.

A local resident expressed appreciation for the project, sharing that travel has become much safer and more convenient, particularly during heavy rains when access is often difficult.

DPWH reaffirms its commitment to delivering quality projects that enhance safety, strengthen accessibility, and improve the overall quality of life of communities across the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office IX continues its clearing operations along the CAAP Creek near the Zamboanga International Airport to help prevent flooding in the area. Using an amphibious excavator, personnel are clearing accumulated silt, waste, debris, and other obstructions that hinder the smooth flow of water.

The activity aims to improve the drainage capacity of the creek and reduce the risk of flooding that could affect airport operations and nearby communities, especially during heavy rainfall. The clearing operations form part of DPWH’s continuing efforts to ensure public safety.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office IX has intensified its declogging and desilting operations along the Tugbungan River in Zamboanga City to restore the smooth flow of water and strengthen flood prevention efforts in nearby communities. DPWH has deployed its amphibious excavator to efficiently remove accumulated silt, debris, and other obstructions along the waterway.

Connected to the Putik River, the Tugbungan River plays a vital role in the city’s drainage system. Through the ongoing operations, DPWH aims to ensure the continuous passage of water, reduce flood risks during heavy rainfall, and enhance public safety as part of its continuing flood mitigation and maintenance initiatives.
