The SSARC-GIZ Progress Review Meeting was held at the GIZ Office in Peshawar to review ongoing support initiatives for vulnerable communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Following a presentation by Ms. Heidi Herrmann, the implementing partners Handicap International (HI), Relief International (RI) and International Medical Corps (IMC), shared progress updates on their ongoing activities and collective efforts to support vulnerable communities across KP.

Khyber Medical College in collaboration with IOM Pakistan , held the International Research Conference 2026 at Serena Hotel, Peshawar, on May 13, 2026. The conference brought together health experts, policymakers and humanitarian stakeholders under the theme “Resilient Health Systems in Humanitarian Emergencies.”
Important discussions focused on Migration related health challenges, healthcare gaps in displaced communities, maternal and child health, mental health support and communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Among the distinguished guests was Shakeel Muhammad Khan Safi, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees KP, reflecting CAR, KP’s continued commitment to working together for stronger and more inclusive health systems for vulnerable communities.

The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi visited the Afghan Transit Point at Hamza Baba Camp to review arrangements and facilities for Afghan returnees. He was accompanied by Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, KP Shakeel Muhammad Khan Safi.
The Governor was briefed by Deputy Commissioner Khyber Captain Bilal Rao, along with a briefing from the Pakistan Red Crescent Merged Areas, KP Provincial Branch and held a meeting with tribal elders.
Representatives from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Pakistan Customs, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Rescue 1122 and other departments were also present.
He inspected departmental counters and directed that in line with federal policy, all possible facilities be provided emphasizing that dignified repatriation remains a top priority with full government support.
