On Vesak Day, we reflect on compassion, wisdom, and the quiet strength of choosing kindness — even in difficult times.
May this day be a reminder to care not only for ourselves, but for one another, and to continue building a more thoughtful, compassionate society together.
Wishing all who celebrate a peaceful and meaningful Vesak Day from the Singapore Democratic Party 🪷

To our Muslim friends and fellow Singaporeans observing Hari Raya Haji, may this season be a reminder of compassion, sacrifice, and care for one another.
In a world that often pulls us apart, may we continue building a society rooted in empathy, dignity, and community.
Selamat Hari Raya Haji from all of us at the Singapore Democratic Party 🌙

What happens when musicians step into politics?
We’re excited to launch the very first episode of Pong Pong Palavers — SDP’s new podcast series exploring politics, culture, and the human side of public life in Singapore.
For our debut episode, we sit down with our very own candidates, Jufri Salim and Surayah Akbar, for a thoughtful conversation on discipline, rhythm, dissent, performance, and the emotional realities of political life.

Why Pong-pong Palavers?
The Pong-pong fruit looks beautiful. Familiar. Harmless. But beneath the surface lies quiet toxicity. We consume stability, comfort, and silence so often that we stop noticing what it has been insidiously doing to the civic heart.
“Palavers” refers to difficult, troublesome conversations — this podcast is born out of our desire to recognize that some conversations are worth having regardless. Therefore, the Pong-pong Palavers.
We are going to name the fruit.
We are going to examine its seeds.
And maybe — just maybe — we are going to have the difficult conversations that might just be part of the antidote.

We had our first Women Democrats workshop this weekend, and the conversations were honest, practical, and deeply encouraging.
From career transitions to rebuilding confidence step-by-step, women from different walks of life came together to learn, share, and support one another 💪❤️
This is just the beginning. More conversations, workshops, and community spaces are on the way.

Vice-Chairman Bryan Lim argues that criminalising peaceful acts such as delivering a letter risks eroding trust and weakening the very foundations of our society. A confident Singapore should protect the right to speak up - not punish it.
