Our School of InfoComm Technology students are using immersive technology to help youths recognise the signs of mental health struggles that can easily go unnoticed.

Working with CHAT Singapore as part of their industry Capstone Project, the team developed a VR adaptation of My Secret Bedroom, where users explore a young person’s bedroom and uncover subtle signs that they may be struggling.

Created with youths, for youths, the experience puts our students’ immersive media and user-centred design skills to work on an issue relevant to their peers, building awareness and encouraging earlier help-seeking.

The experience was recently brought to NP Wellness Day this week, where our student and staff community had the opportunity to try it firsthand.

Our School of Design & Environment (DE) students embarked on a memorable Youth Expedition Project (YEP) in Hin Heub, Laos!

The team checked in with Uncle Chris Kopitiam, run by Christopher Yeo, a Singaporean who has lived and worked in Vientiane for over 30 years, to explore the cultural challenges of living abroad. They also visited Tai Baan Crafts, a social enterprise supporting mainly female artisans practising traditional Lao handicrafts, and the Singapore Embassy to learn about economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

To make a positive impact on the Lao community, DE students visited Naxath Primary School to teach pupils basic English and installed new streetlamps to brighten local streets.

Our School of Engineering students explored Davao, Philippines over the semester break back in September on their Youth Expedition Project (YEP)!

As part of the cultural immersion, they visited the likes of the University of the Philippines Mindanao, social enterprise Davao Care Farm and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office. They not only got to interact with local undergraduates but also learnt more about the business models behind social enterprises and the sustainability efforts within the city.

To round off the trip our students also went on a Service-Learning stint at the New Hope Child Development Center where students conducted arts & craft classes for pre-school kids and worked on refurbishing the centre for their future use.

Congratulations to our Biomedical Science students for emerging overall champions at the Applied Food Innovation Challenge amongst eight polytechnic teams!

Despite stiff competition from other participants pursuing food technology-related diplomas, Team Ngee Ann Polytechnic which comprised of Mickey Chua, Ho Zheng Feng, Triston A’sen, Lim Donghwan, Kristen Ting and Adele Zhen, impressed the judges with their innovative ideas, technical knowledge and marketing pitch.

The team showed how biomedical science knowledge can be applied beyond its traditional domain, and their success reflected the dedication they demonstrated in preparing across semester breaks.

The competition was co-organised by the Singapore Institute of Technology and NUS Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein as part of the BePro Alternative Protein Discovery Day 2026.

Two cities, one adventure – our students visited Jakarta and Bangkok as part of our flagship SEA Immersion and Leadership (SAIL) programme! Spending two weeks with our Southeast Asian counterparts, they developed stronger cross-cultural connections.

They tackled real-world challenges through industry visits, community engagement projects, fireside chats and innovation workshops. Working in multidisciplinary teams, our students came together with local university students to transform ideas into impactful solutions while building their leadership skills and regional awareness.

We're excited to see our students continue to grow as leaders and create more impact in future!

From next year, our students in biomedical sciences-related courses can apply for a study award that gives them an earlier head start in Singapore’s growing biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

The new $4.8 million BMAC Study Award will give eligible polytechnic and ITE students a one-time cash award, priority consideration for internships, and access to industry activities and mentors from leading biopharmaceutical companies in Singapore.

Announced at the 7th Joint Polytechnic-ITE Biomedical Science Forum, the award will help students build valuable industry exposure and develop the expertise needed for careers in the sector.

Workplace well-being is now becoming an increasingly important part of how organisations support their people. To help build these capabilities, NP is partnering Kaleidoscope Labs to strengthen mental well-being education and training for the workplace.

Through our Centre for Workplace Well-Being (coWELL), we’re bringing together NP’s strengths in healthcare and curriculum design with Kaleidoscope Labs' expertise in workplace well-being and psychosocial risk management.

The partnership will introduce a new suite of Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes covering different aspects of workplace well-being, from first response to programme design and organisation-wide implementation.

The first course "Workplace Well-being First Response: Mental Health Literacy & Early Intervention" is set to launch in the first quarter of next year.

Together, we're shaping the future of work by creating healthier workplaces where people and organisations can thrive.

Students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Life Sciences and Chemical Technology underwent a rewarding Youth Expedition Project (YEP) in Udon Thani, Thailand, featuring cultural immersion, industry engagement and service-learning.

In addition to a cultural exchange with students from Rajabhat University, they visited STM Mana Engineering to learn about its efforts to create skilled employment opportunities for local communities.

The team also conducted English lessons and conversation sessions for students at Ban Na Sai Na Muang School, while improving the school’s learning spaces through infrastructure upgrades.

Students from our Schools of Health Sciences and Film & Media Studies spent part of their semester break in Thailand on trip under the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP).

Visits to the Thai Film Archive and healthcare institutions gave them insights to local industries. They also experienced Thai culture through traditional dance and Muay Thai classes, temple visits and nature activities.

Apart from these valuable experiences, they returned with lasting memories and meaningful cross-cultural friendships.
