Most people think social workers mainly connect people to services.
But the work often goes much deeper.
Sometimes it means making countless calls to replace a wheelchair that was crushed in a motor accident โ because the person still needs to get to work the next week.
Sometimes it means sitting with someone who feels like their life has fallen apart, and helping them find the strength to move forward again.
At ABLE Singapore, we hear clients say things like:
โI donโt think I could have pulled myself together if not for my social worker.โ
Social work is not just about programmes or referrals.
It is about walking alongside people during some of the hardest moments in their lives.
This ๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ฎ๐, we honour the dedication, persistence and compassion of social workers who continue to show up for others every day.

Some of the strongest women we know are rebuilding their lives after stroke โ or standing beside someone who is.
This ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐งโ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฒ, we celebrate women like Irene and Shu Ning whose courage inspires hope and resilience.

We had a wonderful time at the Catholic Junior College Service Learning Fair on Friday, 6 March 2026.
Our Community Partnerships & Communications team and Return-to-Work team enjoyed interacting with JC1 and JC2 students, sharing more about ABLEโs work supporting persons with acquired physical disabilities.
Students also took part in an interactive activity designed to simulate the challenges some individuals face after a stroke. While holding a dumbbell and limiting the use of fingers on their dominant hand, participants tried putting on and removing a T-shirt, gaining a small glimpse into how everyday tasks can become difficult.
Through conversations at our booth, we also explored how students can support ABLE, from volunteering to brainstorming ideas on how companies can make return-to-work possible for our clients.
It was encouraging to see so many young people curious, empathetic and eager to make a difference. Thank you .jc for having us and for creating a platform for students to learn about community impact.

We were glad to welcome students from St Joseph's Institution back to ABLE as part of their Values in Action (VIA) programme, marking the second consecutive year of collaboration.
The boys spent the afternoon engaging our clients through games, music and meaningful interaction. Their enthusiasm, energy and openness brought much joy and laughter to the space, creating a truly uplifting atmosphere for everyone involved.
Moments like these remind us that inclusion grows through shared experiences. Through spending time together, students gain a deeper understanding of life with disability, while our clients are encouraged by the presence of a community that cares.
We are deeply thankful to the SJI boys and their teachers for their continued support and for journeying with ABLE in such a meaningful way.

On 27 February, we had the privilege of welcoming about 40 partners and supporters to experience the ABLE journey firsthand.
From stepping into the shoes of a stroke survivor, to participating in adapted sports activities, to hearing powerful return-to-work stories and reflections from caregivers โ each of the four experiential stations offered insight into the resilience of the individuals and families we serve.
Recovery is more than therapy. It is rebuilding confidence, reconnecting with community, and rediscovering purpose.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so meaningful. Your support helps create inclusive pathways that empower lives every day.

On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are reminded that every person is created in the image and likeness of God โ precious, worthy, and deeply loved. Christ is present in our brothers and sisters with disabilities, inviting us to recognise Him in their lives, their stories, and their dignity.
We are called not just to see, but to love โ to let our compassion move into action, to advocate for true inclusion, and to help build a community where no one is overlooked or left behind. May we learn from the heart of Jesus Himself : to welcome, honour, and embrace every person with the same love He so freely gives.
At ABLE, we journey with persons with acquired physical disabilities and their caregivers through rehabilitation, reintegration, return-to-work and respite. Our mission is to restore dignity, renew hope, and walk with each person with compassion and faith.
