🌟 In a mark of resilience, growth and community spirit, today we honour 126 families representing 630 individuals who graduated from the Leap Initiative Programme Batch 3, marking the completion of their two-year empowerment journey. With a remarkable 79% retention rate, these families have transformed their lives across six key domains through milestone-based grants of up to $5,000, fully funded by community Zakat contributions.
What makes this programme special? It trusts families as the best decision-makers for their own challenges, fostering not just individual growth but community leadership. With around 60 mentors now supporting new families and 42 families contributing to fellow Zakat beneficiaries, the spirit of giving back continues to flourish.
Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, beautifully captured it: "The Leap Initiative is more than a grant programme—it empowers families, builds resilience, strengthens bonds, and creates a community where families grow together."
Alhamdulillah for this community where families don't just survive, they thrive. 💪✨
We celebrate the incredible journey of 126 families from Batch 3 of the Leap Initiative under Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS), funded by Zakat monies contributed by our community via MUIS and our mosques, reflecting our collective commitment to supporting those in need.
Over the past two years, each family has taken important steps forward. This is about their journey, efforts, quiet sacrifices, aspirations and hopes for their families.
We also celebrate our community that chooses to support families with trust, care and hope. Special recognition goes to our dedicated mentors and alumni who have journeyed alongside these families, made possible through strong partnerships including PELITA.

📢 If you have not fulfilled your Zakat Fitrah, we advise making it immediately to avoid congestion at physical Zakat counters or high online traffic periods.
"Rasulullah s.a.w enjoined Zakat Fitrah as a purification for the fasting person from idle talk and obscenities, and to feed the poor. Whoever pays it before the (Aidilfitri) prayer, it is an accepted Zakat, and whoever pays it after the prayer, it is (ordinary) charity." (Sunan Ibn Majah)

Zakat on CPF is only applicable to those who can withdraw their CPF in lump sum from the age of 55, provided the amount meets the Nisab.
You may fulfill it as soon as you are able to withdraw the amount, or one year later to observe the haul period.
From age 65, regarding monthly CPF payouts, Zakat is not due on these payments.
If you're under the age of 55, no Zakat is due on your CPF as you do not have full ownership over it (and it's usage).

In 2025, MUIS disbursed a total of $74.7 million (before audit*) in Zakat funds as contributed by the community.
Our Zakat disbursement focuses on three key impact areas:
1. Supporting the underprivileged to live better lives
2. Building a stronger Muslim community
3. Strengthening our religious institutions
MUIS supports an ecosystem of socioreligious services that includes our mosques and madrasahs. We also provide grants to local Muslim organisations, such as Darul Arqam and LBKM, to amplify their vital work.
None of this would be possible without the steadfast commitment of our community in fulfilling the obligation of Zakat through MUIS.

Alhamdulillah, with the community's continued support through Zakat and Fidyah contributions, MUIS has been able to disburse a $4.3 million Ramadan Support Package to over 10,500 recipients.
The comprehensive package is tailored to different community needs to uplift the vulnerable among us this Ramadan and Syawal.
Payouts began on 3 March 2026, with eligible recipients notified by post.
We thank you for your support and may your Zakat be accepted, rewarded, and continue to strengthen our community.
