Our specialized divers of Task Group 73.6 and Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 1 have concluded their support of a deeply important and lengthy Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency mission. Operating aboard the USNS Salvor (T-ARS-52) in Subic Bay, Philippines, our team has provided crucial assistance to the DPAA’s WWII recovery efforts. It has been an honor to support the DPAA in their mission to account for our missing servicemembers.

The recovery operations at the Oryoku Maru wreck site in Subic Bay highlights the unique capabilities of our Navy divers in supporting the Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency . By carefully extracting sediment samples from the wreck, Task Group 73.6 directly enabled DPAA archaeologists to study and analyze the site.

Complex operations in Subic Bay. Our Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit 1 divers executed dives on the WWII-era wreck of the Oryoku Maru. They carefully retrieved sediment samples, providing critical support to the Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency ongoing recovery efforts. We are incredibly proud of the technical skill our divers brought to this solemn, DPAA-led task.
