New York’s watchdogs on the national stage! This week, Team OIG joined more than 400 oversight professionals at the 2026 Association of Inspectors General Annual Conference.

From IG Lang’s keynote address to panel discussions featuring Ryan Hayward, Michele Bayer, and Jack Wild, our team proudly showcased the innovative work happening across NYS-OIG, exchanged lessons learned, and highlighted how New York is helping shape the future of independent oversight.

Throughout October, we’ve looked back at Catherine Leahy-Scott’s tenure as IG and some of the defining moments of her leadership, including our investigation into the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility escape.

To close out the month, we’re revisiting IG Leahy-Scott’s reflections on that investigation, shared during our event marking 10 years since the escape.
